Ints with Larry at South Oval.

~440m each (watch had 430m one way around the oval, 450m the other way...)
kept a steady 1.31 per rep, with ~45s coast between. Bit faster on the first and last.
Good to get out and do it, I've been avoiding flat intervals for far too long...

Little blackie single track hill reps with Larry and Lukas. Well, single track puts it nicely, more a scratchy goat track with plenty underfoot and little knicks and turns to sidestep around. Good for agility and strength. and pain.

Absolutely brutal. not surprising as I haven't done any high intensity hill sessions in months.

women's 9s. Plenty more running than last night. legs were feeling the earlier hill session, but not as much as I thought they might. So perhaps my legs are ahead of my lungs atm.
Even played keeper for a bit (not incl in time), first time in about 15 years.

Couple of token sprints. a header that glanced just wide. and a couple of shots that missed both the goal and the ducks that reside behind the goal. I think they've wisened up since i stunned one of them last week.

Twilight at Majura West.
(warning: toilet humour follows.)

Not sure if I've picked up a virus, or if it's just the increase in temp, but about 6 controls in I had severe, unpleasant, gut issues. Fricken Australian bush is so sparse and high vis that I couldnt find a discrete spot for an emergency stop! But I was getting increasingly desperate, so attempted to go enough off course that noone was around. Unfortunately the first time I attempted this, I bumped into what must have been the Orange 2 course. so no go. The next time I waited til we were way up the hill where only the long course went. But each time I tried, damn it, others on the course kept following me on my detours!!! The first time I'd tried going down what was very obviously the wrong side of a spur, but gave up and just went and got the control when a couple of guys followed me. The second time, I tried climbing super high on what was a contouring leg, but got followed by the 2 guys, and 2 juniors! I could see the funny side of it at the time, but wasn't very appreciative in my state!
Eventually I just stopped and waited for them to slowly figure how off course they were (or just keep going further off course).
Such relief. Jog/walked it in for what will look like a very slow time. GPS should be pretty funny to look at, with all my intentional offcourse exploring.

So yeah, a very funny, but very uncomfortable, experience! Atleast it makes a decent story.

Felt pretty sick all evening. But pretty sure it's just a 24hr thing.

Orienteering 5:40:00 [3] 31.5 km (10:48 / km)

New weekly training routine: 5 rest days - 1 easy day - 1 training day.

Spring ACT rogaine down the coast. Beautiful area, started with clean running around the lagoon, some full on bush bashing, some (relatively) openish bush, some jungle stuff with vines that reminded me wellington town belt. and some beaut rock hopping down valleys that reminded me of summer adventures with the o-gang back home. Finished with a long stretch down the coastal track with controls pretty close off it. And a short, but felt very very long, run down the beach.
RobW and Craney kept popping up at controls with us as they took pretty much the same route for their first 6 hrs. They got a couple of extra controls to us. (but they did gain a sneaky 5mins by not calling out when they found a control we were looking for together...i will remember this Craney.. .;)

More than happy with finishing 20mins early rather than attempting another 50pointer. Even more happy to do 6hrs not 12!

Ear still stuffed. Went to the Dr. who had a look inside again. Apparently it looks 'interesting'. Hmm
Not much to do but wait it out apparently. Panadol for the headaches, Drixine to decongest anything, and amoxycillin to prevent infection.

Saw the Dr this morning after waking up at 1am with horrible ear pain. No infection fortunately, just very inflamed. Got prescription. Rest of the day was a write off. Watched a couple of (bad) movies, could only half hear what the actors were saying though.

Looking at the positives: My legs feel great, rested and in working order. So just waiting for my ear to clear up and I can get out and enjoy training in this nice weather! (though I hear it's going to rain all next week.Which I love. cos I'm positive!)

Really happy with the results, but more importantly, the performances, over the last week or so.
Came away with 5/5, and no heavy trophies to carry home, which is the best result possible really! (as I don't count as an Aussie)

Raced through the sickness over the weekend. Time will tell if this was an idiotic thing to do. Plan is to do next to nothing this week and let the body recover.

Orienteering race 45:30 [4] 7.0 km (6:30 / km)
(sick)

Aus relay champs, running 3rd in an NZ team with Laura (1) and Alice Tilley (2).
Shame to not have a Cockies team, but cool to run with the Kiwis :)

Was given the best possible position by the first two, heading out well in front of the Aussie state teams on the 3rd leg. Took wide right to the first control, having seen others go this way. But 40m in I realised i'd have picked a straighter route if I'd started as in an individual. Ah well.
Lost 45s in the circle as the control description was wrong and had been changed with a black marker...which in the rain I'd taken to be a squashed fly on my map!
Steady run from there, a few places where I lost time trying to make sense of the rock mapping. And a large chunk of time (3min+) lost on #9 where the map just...?! Even despite been warned about this one by Laura! Eventually found the control wedged down in a crevise in the smallest cliff ever. I hadn't seen the feature, let alone the flag until my 3rd pass through the area!

Anyway, kept it steady for a comfortable win.

Orienteering race (Aus Long Champs) 1:10:30 [4] 10.7 km (6:35 / km)
(sick)

Had a comfortable, clean race on a pretty open map with clusters of rock detail. Had last start with Laura then Aislinn in front of me. Caught sight of them at #4 before catching at #6 and passing to #8. Did well in not pushing myself faster just to get away, just concentrated on keeping my own pace. Pulled away on the long leg 8-9 where I went left to the fast running gully. Spotted Krystal, Bridget and Clare at #9, and Mary at #11, then was on my lonesome for the rest.
Not the best route to #14 as I opted for the open gully again, where as to the right should have been a bit faster.
Started feeling really rough towards the end, so eased off a fair bit physically knowing I just had to keep it clean to take the win. Which I did, happily :)

A couple of misses in the circles, and that one route choice, but overall happy with the performance.
Felt pretty fine cold-wise while running, but felt it like anything afterwards.
