Orienteering 37:00 [3]
Twilight at Majura West.
(warning: toilet humour follows.)
Not sure if I've picked up a virus, or if it's just the increase in temp, but about 6 controls in I had severe, unpleasant, gut issues. Fricken Australian bush is so sparse and high vis that I couldnt find a discrete spot for an emergency stop! But I was getting increasingly desperate, so attempted to go enough off course that noone was around. Unfortunately the first time I attempted this, I bumped into what must have been the Orange 2 course. so no go. The next time I waited til we were way up the hill where only the long course went. But each time I tried, damn it, others on the course kept following me on my detours!!! The first time I'd tried going down what was very obviously the wrong side of a spur, but gave up and just went and got the control when a couple of guys followed me. The second time, I tried climbing super high on what was a contouring leg, but got followed by the 2 guys, and 2 juniors! I could see the funny side of it at the time, but wasn't very appreciative in my state!
Eventually I just stopped and waited for them to slowly figure how off course they were (or just keep going further off course).
Such relief. Jog/walked it in for what will look like a very slow time. GPS should be pretty funny to look at, with all my intentional offcourse exploring.
So yeah, a very funny, but very uncomfortable, experience! Atleast it makes a decent story.
Felt pretty sick all evening. But pretty sure it's just a 24hr thing.
