Cup final vs Moturoa. Always up against it in a tough match where some of their fed league players dropped down. Then Jenny, the Austrian who plays centre mid with me, blew her knee in a tackle after 5mins. So wasn't looking great from the start. Went 2-0 down after 20mins, but then fought our way back to 2-1 at the half. Unlucky not to be 2-2 really.
Bad start to the 2nd half for our fill-in goalkeeper saw us 4-2 down again in short measure. Then pulled another goal back, before succumbing 6-2 in the end.
Could have been a very different match but for a few moments. But oh well...we still got a trophy for being runners up... since when has that been a thing?!

Rerun of the sprint relay course from Lonely mtn sprints. about 20s slower this time around... which is about right considering the complete lack of speed work ive done over the last 6 months!
But no, slippery conditions and lack of race pressure also comes into it (excuses)

Runners choice interval training. Had 3 intervals with 3 options each. Took 10s to decide each time, then ran my preferred option. The second two, i went back and tested out the other two options for comparison.

Succumbed to my physio's persuasions to come for a throw around. It's been 6 years since I filled in for a few games in canberra. Good fun, but my legs were fairly shot after football.

I figure though, either my ankle is alright, if my physio is encouraging me to do more short sharp stuff like frisbee... or maybe I hide the pain a bit too well...

Lake mangamahoe trails, on foot this arvo. Slipped around the horse trails, then out to topec and meeting of the waters. Lots of cute lambies, but they didnt think I was so cute...they all ram away from me.
Back to the lake amd explored some scarily steep mtb trails, before completing the loop of the lake.made it back 3mins before gate closing time :)

Finally back out at the lake. Beaut evening with just me and the birds singing away (them not me). Popped out onto the 4wd road by the S of the lake just infront of another runner. He stayed on the road a little bit longer than me (weak), which meant he passed me and got to the swing bridge ahead. Which left me with the hard decision of whether to wait, or just go ahead and double bounce him...
I'll leave it to you to deduce what i did.

Harriers loop round Fitzroy - Moturoa. Good strong head wind down at the coast, worthy of wellington. Ankle tendons eased up pretty quickly, but have to be careful of the glute-hammy combo after they took a hammering at the weekend.

Pouakai Circuit. Was such a nice day that it would have been rude not to.
Definite spring conditions, with the track cover ranging from snow, to icey slush, back to just ice, massive icey puddles, frosty mud, muddy mud, and extra bonus mud. Loved it.

A return to the manuka shrubbery of Castle Hill. Fared much better this time around, aside from the rubbishy hillside, where I misread my map and decided to do 3 controls rather than 2! Think i tried to do leg 8-9 twice, thinking I was at 8 when I'd actually already successfully completed the leg to 9!

Group run from coal pit spur back to castle hill, via Helecopter Hill, Dracophylum flats, and over the hogsback. Last days took their toll today, I felt absolutely drained when it came to any hill. A lot of walking up hills, and got completely dropped and left in the dust by Immy!

Just an evening jog with the crew...which turned out to be a massive climb up to the bushline! Very enjoyable, but not much of a recovery run

Castle Hill PAPO OY. Fun area in the manuka scrub, but took me a while to get the hang of it. Had one control as both #8 and #12. Blew it both times...

Hogsback Ultralong. Fun day out, hummed along pretty well until a bit of a brain fart on #7. Had a nice cold drink out of a stream at 8 and a jetplane, which did me well for the next few controls. But completely missed the rock at #11, blowing over 4mins. Still no idea what was going on there, but eventually Marisol came along and showed me the control. From there just the long leg to get home, followed by the slowest roughest finish chute ever!

Hike up Mt Grey with Rita. A good dose of snow on the top and a beautiful day. Found ourselves a nice sheltered spot for lunch, down beneath the bushline but with a great view to the bigger mountains inland :) Good catchup
