Note

OK, so here's the short version of very long and big news, to keep people in the know. :)
The doctors have diagnosed what is wrong and what has been causing all of my issues these last years. It's serious, but resolvable, and I've been booked in for surgery next week. All going well, I'll be able to resume a fully (and maybe better?) active lifestyle post-surgery.
I'm in Kalnes hospital til surgery on Weds, up in Rikshospitalet til maybe Saturday, then back to Kalnes for a week or so of initial recuperation.

I'm happy to let those of you who know me better in on what's happening in more detail, just don't want to air it all publicly when I'm still getting to grips with it all too. Just get in touch - and visitors are welcome while i'm holed up in hospital ;)

Note

Another day in hospital. The nurses here are good value, one admitted to learning most of her medical-related english from Gray's Anatomy. She sympathised with me about there not being a geophysics TV drama for me to learn work-related technical Norwegian from. The closest would be Big Bang Theory - but (a) they speak english and (b) they just mock geologists.

Note

Back in hospital for more heart tests. Don't want to speak too soon, but it's starting to look like we may have figured out what's going wrong.

Football 1:00:00 [3]

Long day out at the orienteering, followed by a long trip for an away 7 aside match. Played centre back, which is fun in 7 aside, as the pitch is small enough that you can control the play from there.
Didn't have our top squad by far, so plan was to keep a stable defence as first priority, and attack from there. Worked, just. Defence was solid, but we couldn't take advantage of our chances at the other end. Squeezed in a 2-1 win, which was satisfying at the end of a long day :)

Note

Spent the day helping prepare the Pre-O control sites for next week. Learned lots, and grazed on lots of berries. Main accomplishment of the day was single handedly chopping down 3m tree that was blocking one of the controls. Badass. But felt sorry for the tree. Shame it's not Christmas, would have been a nice addition to the house.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [1] 7.0 km (10:43 / km)

Putting tapes out on Guttesrod. Was a little bit longer than I was led to believe.
About 10 times out there I could smell what I thought was a decaying dead animal...which made me wonder what was killing them all...and if I was being stalked by a bear... But given I never actually saw any dead animals, I think it was just really horrible smelling rotting mushrooms. But boy, they smelt like a 1 week old dead possum.
