North Silver Lane.
Had about 3" of wet snow yesterday, and though a good bit of it was still around in the morning, by the time we got out it was pretty much gone.
But when we started out, I mentioned something about whether "Easter Island" would be back. Easter Island was a snowman, really just the head, huge, appeared at a spot about a quarter-mile down the road from where we started. It was really cool. But as winter turned into late winter into early spring, it slowly but eventually totally meted away. Never did manage a photo.
What a pleasure then to come around a corner and there was Easter Island 2. It was only about half the size of Easter Island, seriously, probably 3/4 of the height but only half the bulk, but the setting, green grass with just traces of snow remaining, was just wonderful.
There was a woman coming back to the house on the left from a walk in the woods with her dog. I celled over -- did you do this, pointing to EI2? No, she called, they did it, pointing to the house on the right. She also thought it was wonderful.
Took our photos, started to walk off, and out of the house on the right came a boy and his mom, the boy maybe 10 to 12. A nice chat with them. The boy had done it with his dad. Built up a huge mass of snow and then started carving. Told them how much we loved it. Big smiles all around.
Don't know how long it will last, but it sure is fine.
