biking 27:37 [2] 7.0 mi (3:57 / mi) +361ft 3:46 / mi

Nice relaxed ride up to Walter's to join him and Phil for an outing. Tail wind and new pavement!

biking 2:17:26 [3] 35.4 mi (3:53 / mi) +2625ft 3:38 / mi

With Walter and Phil through the Goshen and Ashfield hills. Mix of mellow and hard paces (several good doses of lactic acid on the climbs), plus some nice fast downhills. Caught some rain the last five minutes.

biking 24:35 [2] 7.0 mi (3:31 / mi) +66ft 3:29 / mi

Back from Walter's, downhill then flat. Strange ride. First getting poured on, then within a couple miles the sun was out, then with about 2 miles to go I could feel myself bonking, made it up the driveway but not with much to spare. Probably both low blood sugar and dehydrated (dewpoint was 73, we were all sweating like crazy). Had to remember my old post-ultra routine -- eat/drink, nap, eat/drink, more nap....

biking 49:58 [3] 15.3 mi (3:16 / mi) +755ft 3:07 / mi

Leverett loop, easy the first 20 minutes, hard the last 30.

trail running 6:32 [3] 0.75 mi (8:43 / mi)

Similar to Wednesday, over to the start....

trail running 13:18 [4] 0.8 mi (16:38 / mi) +820ft 8:26 / mi

Up the climb, ran all but about 1 minute on the last steep pitch. Nice day for running, low 60s and steady rain.

(Did a little research afterwards, found I'd run this hill in 10:12 back in 1980. Nevertheless, I'm surprised to be doing it now as well as I am. I thought 16 minutes would be as good as I could do, 50 feet a minute climb.

We used to have a race up the hill, the Power Line Power Climb. 8/10 mile, 800' climb. A guy drove out from Boston one year, thought it was an 8 mile race, didn't see the decimal point, was rather pissed. Best time was about 9 minutes. One year we had a special event -- the Power Line Power Hour -- to see how made round trips could be made in an hour. I got three with about 5 minutes to spare and I think that was the best.

Eric Weyman had the fastest downhill time, about 4 and a half minutes I think. It was very impressive!)

trail running 49:18 [2] 5.5 mi (8:58 / mi)

Back to car via S curves, Muck and Sugar trails.

Note

Don't normally enter my golf as "training", and I'm not playing much anyway, but today was a fine 73 with 5 birdies. So what if it was an easy course.... and every once in a while all the bounces are good ones.

trail running 6:22 [3] 0.75 mi (8:29 / mi)

Similar to Monday, over to the start of the climb...

trail running 13:30 [4] 0.8 mi (16:53 / mi) +820ft 8:34 / mi

Up to the top, ran a little more....

trail running 23:24 [3] 3.0 mi (7:48 / mi)

Back via parts of the Robert Frost. Overall, a good outing, calf hanging in there....

biking 42:10 [2] 10.1 mi (4:11 / mi) +755ft 3:54 / mi

Just before dinner, relaxed pace except for climb up S. Sugarloaf. Climb is a good test, but can't really enjoy coming down, have to be on the brakes pretty hard all the way because of a couple of sharp curves and a stop sign at the bottom.

biking 1:51:07 [3] 29.9 mi (3:43 / mi) +1969ft 3:30 / mi

Stillwater/Bardswell Fery loop in the Conway Hills. Worked the hills.

trail running 6:21 [3] 0.75 mi (8:28 / mi)

On the NE side of Mt. Toby, to the start of the "Power Line Power Climb".

run/hike 13:31 [4] 0.8 mi (16:54 / mi) +820ft 8:34 / mi

Up to the top, 8/10 mile, 800' climb. Surprised myself by running about 2/3 of it.

trail running 22:59 [2] 2.9 mi (7:56 / mi)

Gently back down via the jeep road. A decent outing, weather was a bit cooler and less humid.
