Orienteering race 30:55 [3] 3.66 km (8:26 / km) +92m 7:30 / km

JK Day 2 Brereton Spurs. M50. Rtd.

Despite still having a cold, I decided to start the race and see how it went.

Started badly, having been quite surprised to see the start officials allow MarkC to start just 30secs in front of me (I thought he was on M50L, but in fact he was on M50S). Consequently blew #1 completely.

Got my head sorted for #2 and #3, but then realised I had no strength in my legs for the steep climbs, and my head wasn't thinking at all well either. By #6 I decided it was a bad idea to continue, and jogged back. I'll skip the Long race and try to be fit and ready for the relays.

JK Sprint. MOD Stafford. M50. 9th.

Still not got rid of my cold, so physically struggling, but technically pretty good. Happy to be within a minute of the leader in the circumstances.

Orienteering 1:06:05 intensity: (15 @0) + (10 @1) + (14 @2) + (3:55 @3) + (1:01:00 @4) + (31 @5) 12.59 km (5:15 / km) +126m 5:00 / km
ahr:163 max:172

Macclesfield Urban. MVet. 8km. 4th.

I was full of cold. I skipped the JOK Sprint in order to try and race this one, but I was sluggish and not properly focused.

Also not impressed with bits of the map, and some of the planning. Some of the gaps were so narrow that they were basically invisible, and where these also had steps, the steps become a solid black line and appeared to show the way as blocked. At least one control description (wall fence junction) could be approached from both sides, but with no way of knowing which was correct. I picked the wrong side, and lost 35 seconds because of that.

Karl's time of 61 was fast. Even fully fit, I might have struggled to match that.
