Park Run (#295 lakeview) 41:45 [4] 5.0 km (8:21 / km)
shoes: Brooks Glycerin

The "I don't want to go" feeling started yesterday afternoon so it was with not much interest I went today. At the Start line I was only 1 of 3 people wearing a T shirt with short sleeves and it was cold. A reminder from the South too that a headwind on the home straight was on offer. Great!
Again when "GO" went I took off running - strange and possibly peer pressure, but I wouldn't have thought so. However I felt I was running for longer and faster and certainly people commented that my walking was fast (which it isn't! just little legs moving quickly). Thought I was on my ownsome today but around 1km mark Marc overtook me - in cognito. Fred out the front (he's an uphill runner) and Christine battling her way along. [Her later reveal was it was her first "run all the way" parkrun, slower than normal, but she's way ahead of me on that front].
Kept thinking Marc would overhaul me somewhere as he's been within 4 seconds of me the last 2 weeks. But he must have been off his game today as he was a distant 1:20 behind. Another 40 sec improvement for me and fastest time this year - a long way from the limping home and a very weak ankle which started the year.

With the imminent cancellation of the next NOY event I had to do a recce for Aimee who is doing a surprise Adventure Race birthday activity for her partner. I have had to resort to one of our permanent courses so I needed to check it out again and see what the state of the minor tracks are... and they are minor. Sadly NPWS + Council have allowed a whole section of "yellow" to become pale green but still I'm keeping that control. Would have a big impact on school group Star Relay activity and Short course too. Big upgrade of play area supposed to start on 15th.. I see a lot of tape up and that's it.

Note

Have changed my Rest Day to Wednesdays partly due to gym timetabling and because we have events virtually every Sunday. But today i had to go out to the lake and decided while i was there I could do the Long course from last Sunday. Rained a lot overnight so knew the place would be muddy so piked. Felt very wimpy in doing so. Hence when I'd finished my tutorial I went straight into town to collect my new driving glasses. I deliberately parked a long way from shop but yep... rain came and the heaviest of all day. I got soaked as there were quite some gaps between awnings and a lot of full gutters due to the autumn leaves. Long wet walk, silly decision.

Was on Admin for a Minor Event which I thought would be minor, being Mother's Day ... but oh no it wasn't. 5 new families came out to play and the place was abuzz with kids about 8-10 yr old. And there was a comment from a runner from a different club who was impressed by "all the kids" - It's wonderful. That being said I didn't feel like going out after all the freneticism, but Carolyn M insisted I go for a walk, even on the Easy course. I got to #2 and a man with his daughter who was going for a walk stopped me and asked "what was going on?" so I slipped back into Intro mode.... and after that I curtailed my plans and just picked up some controls on the way back. Grabbed a couple of maps and will go for a proper run next weekend when everyone else will be at Orange at SL and I won't. A little FOMO but pleased I've decided not to go even for just Saturday. Wouldn't consider the Sunday after certain comments made by Course Planner. It has left quite a few people resentful and not happy. I couldn't justify going that far for a parkrun I've already done, and 1 event. Happy to stay at home, though.....
