Park Run (Lakeview) 41:09 [5] 5.0 km (8:14 / km)
shoes: black+blue

S-1 9:27
1-2 7:50 (17:17)
2-T 3:50 (21:08)
T-3 4:18 (25:26)
3-4 8:23 (33:50)
4-5 7:19 (41:09)
Slightly slower in first 2km but picked up the pace in the remainder. Beautiful foggy morning, still and eerie. Fastest lakeview for me since return from COVID break.
Long chat afterwards with Jess about forthcoming SOS and World maze Event (after a banana breakfast) and then with lady who is interested in doing orienteering.

Event (SoS#3 HSPA) 27:51 [3] 3.3 km (8:26 / km)
shoes: black+blue

This is one of our best SoS maps and was pleased to return. Didn't help though! Lost time 5-6 with poor route choice extraordinaire. Otherwise reasonably clean run. Good attendance and nice weather.

Event (SoS#3 HSPA) 2:38 [3]

World Maze Event.
By now legs were a bit tired and slow and even the soles of my shoes were complaining and coming adrift. Last few controls in Maze my knees were sad.
Loved the Match Race version and quite a few family races... and a few red faces.

gym class (Body Attack) 45:00 [4]

Slight variation on yesterday's class. Found i got into "it" sooner than usual for a somewhat sedentary day sorting LPs, cataloguing and returning to holders - for the moment.

Deb still not on deck so class taken by Bec. She reverted to Freestyle Pump which I greatly enjoyed. Same system, though biceps and triceps at the end and no rest in between tracks, in effect giving us far more bang for our buck.

A rare Club training day and despite the weather recently lots of people signed up. Glenn B set several courses, some introductory and some progressive and some a combo of Hard/Moderate standard.
Despite being overcast and being prepared I wasn't really prepared for about 40 mins of rain on my course. It would have been magic for kids wanting to explore. More a MD style which is great. I intended (at home) to do as much running as I could. That went quickly out the window in the bush. Not easy going, very slippery. Glad today was training as it was only marginally better than last Club event where I had an unusual DNF. I'm not sure if the total lack of sunlight had anything to do with it but many of my bearings seemed to be off line; heavy going in places, but because of short leg length (of course) and good catching features i could relocate quickly - many many times.
Warned about leeches, I crossed paths a number of times with some young lads who were as "fast" as me, more accurate but spent quite a bit of useless time trying to dislodge hitchhiker leeches.
Finally back to finish and chatted a little with Adrian. Both he and Joy were keen eyed and removed 4 or 5 hitch hikers and then I started to wonder where else they could be. Thought I'd checked all over and set off home in heavy rain. I got to Wallsend lights, looked down to see a leech tucking into the hole in my O pants on my knee. It took me aaagges to get home, run down to house and find the salt. Pool little hitchhiker, but fair's fair. Only small amount of damage.
Had this been last weekend I would have been severely disappointed. Good training event.
