So happy with this result and my navigating today.
The day started with persistent drizzle and fog moved on to rain showers and more fog and then rain... so forest was very slippery and the terrain the opposite of yesterday - this was VAGUE. Good visibility, if it wasn't foggy and I felt sorry for people needing to use glasses.
S-#1 ENE crossing marsh, hoping (successfully) to see ruined fence then watching landform for the "other side" of spur. Was methodical and focussed and it served me well.
#1-#2 LOOONG leg which could have involved 60m climb ... or... contouring around to track, doing 25m climb then further contouring to creek, hoping to see indistinct track (I did).
#2-#3 E picking way through green gap to indistinct track. I could see people further up slope heading both N and S and as both my #3 and #4 were in this area I thought I'd planned the next leg. Straight to control.
#3-#4 Contour, past open and bare rock and termite mound.
#4-#5 Next long leg - Contour to track and prepare to be VERY careful as being so very vague there was precious little to use to relocate from. Past head of distinct shaped gully and stayed on southern side of spur. Noted lots of people coming up hill but that didn't bother me. So vague, so open and I could see a flag maybe 100m away in what looked like a flat gully and a bit lower than I'd expect mine to be. Thinking I might have overshot and it would be my #6 I opted for a visit anyway to settle the matter (hopefuully). I admit to a little yelp of excitement - NEVER before when I discovered it to be my #5. I knew that!!!
#5-#6 Further down a spur to w/c where a few others were heading for.
#6-F Straight line across marsh to finish.
Very impressed with my focus today and that I did not make any mistakes at all. Speed not a factor - accuracy above all. Sadly my Bungalow companion spent over 2.5hr not finding #1. After a 180 yesterday, she's a bit chastened but still smiling.
