Note

Great day helping out at Paddy Pallin. Arrived at 7:02 with a light sprinkle. This increased throughout the day to pouring but no wind, to pouring with wind to just pouring and misty. So admired those who stuck it out - some judging it a bit too fine (ie 3 seconds to go) and no shame in coming in early, especially those with kiddies in tow or backpack. Catho Bowlo was brilliant in their support and understanding and consideration. Waitara Scouts did a brilliant job with catering and the Admin tent - well what more can be said - they were fantastic people to spend the day with.
Congratulations to place getters and all who came. And if you didn't - sorry you missed a splendid event. See you at Lake Mac in August.

Park Run (Callaghan) 37:30 [3] 5.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: bright pink

cool overcast and drizzly - just lovely weather for running, especially in bushland. Small turnout as expected.
Started off steadily, but even so had a wobbly section on the first slow rise - haven't had that at all since I stopped eating breakfast before I ran - disappointing. Just a few steps then back to running. Took evasive action wherever possible, running on roads and grass instead of the pebblecrete.
Settled in and had a good middle section and was going fairly well through the rainforest walk section, even running up half the hill.
Turnaround and back concentrating on footfall and ignoring the desire to just go home. Again not too bad but knew that time was really long. I'd forgotten my watch and didn't want to get rockman's wet so went "naked".
Very pleasant run, time fairly irrelevant - but rockman estimates it as 37:30 which is a way big PW. However by parkrun generosity/ stuff up I did a fantastic PB (edit - parkrun giveth and parkrun taketh away - time now more realistic, but still generous - I know and that's all that counts.)- so that's why I prefer to take my own times.
Now for porridge, coffee and shopping. Work this afternoon - Paddy Pallin helping tomorrow - East Coast Low keeping at bay also tomorrow.
Further thoughts - I think I'm over the PB thing - now I think I'll just enjoy the run such as it is. That's not sour grapes - just rationalisation.

warm up/down 8:00 [1]

Bit half-hearted - this thought process was to continue.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:03:00 [3]

I was enticed to up biceps weight and was wary given my irregular appearances at the gym over the past month. Managed quite well - so now there's no going back.
