warm up/down 12:00 [1] 0.8 km (15:00 / km)

Event (NOY - Hamburgers Trail) 1:36:26 [3] *** 4.86 km (19:51 / km)
spiked:6/10c

Possibly needed a hamburger given the time I was out. But it was really enjoyable, even in the worst of my poor navigation today.

Got a bit too cocky spiking the first 2 and doing what I wanted to do with #3 (ie aim off not direct). Then picked up Joy at #3 and allowed her to distract me to #4. We differed on where we were so I decided to relocate, though near to #4, she continued and picked it eventually. On a second attempt from a different attackpoint, again I skimmed past #4 but saw someone leaving 'something' on the edge of thick green and so decided I must be too high. I was.
#5 I was probably a victim of not looking at the right time as there was a lot of fallen timber - trunks not the problem, but the canopy takes up a lot of eye space when on the ground. #6 good then wimped out for long track route to #7. Picked up a parallel track, switched over to the more easterly one but too far again. Noticed Sam coming up hill and assumed that she would straight line it so I knew I was in the right area. Still was far too low by following track I was on. This was one of the times i did scan at the right time - #7 about 50m away. Straight line to track, clipping head of gully and w/c and got to track en route to #8. Overjoyed to find myself at a small junction followed quickly by a bigger junction so off on the track ready to aim off to w/c and #8. But continued on track for a little too much, and saw a flag and rockman so yipee it's mine - but it is near a w/c but definitely on a track. WT... So he took a photo of me being a teapot (pouting) and told me where I was! WT!!! OK off on minor track beside a connecting w/c but didn't ever see the junction of the 2 watercourses so continued on minor track around and around and hey there's lots of noise and cars - UGH!!! On that track! Decided to follow it to the most northerly part then headed off for control - only to see rockman coming towards it too. Great! To #9 and #10 no problem.
So a very challenging course made more difficult by storm damage - but a nice area and great course setting. No problems physically - just some mental ones emerging!

Note
slept:11.0

Woke up at 6:30 and decided Parkron (in respect of Ron Clarke) wasn't achievable for me today. Eyes felt sore - an indicator of overtiredness for me. Eventually woke again after another 4 hours sleep - so initial decision was correct. Feel much better.
Sorry to have missed mapgirl's 100th Parkrun. ;-( BUT I will be there next week for the 101st.
1 PM

walking 38:55 [3]

A walk of shame - but timed it and pushed. 20:04 to servo for weekend papers and 18:51 back so negative split and as uphill a good result. Taken total time down by 6 minutes in about a year so pleased with that. Beautiful day (oops afternoon) so now to conquer the front yard mound!
3 PM

gym replacement activity 1:30:00 [3]

Tried my hand at digging - unfortunately it had to be in the clay. As we've had lots of digging recently there are lots of mounds and humps so I was trying to flatten them out. Why is it that when people dig things up soil on top clay underneath it ends up soil underneath and clay on top when they 'return it to normal'? The other sobering thing is that tomorrow's map is pretty wet and you guessed it clayey - my legs are going to get a workout and my O shoes may never be the same again. (any other feeble excuses?)

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:07:00 [4]

Overtime seeing as it was raining. Great session as always but not quite to the highest intensity as couldn't do runs between sections. Still great - and the roof was very wet from all the effort we put in.

Note

Right ankle and knee feeling a bit off - so probably a good thing that it is CATI day for Irrawang High School's GATS. YAY it's raining so the usually swampy corner where good rock features are ...will be extra swampy!

Great day with 35 kids - rain appeared and disappeared appropriately. Very grateful for helpers who roamed the wilds of the Park. And yes the washing machines will be very busy tonight! Mud and more mud!

gym replacement activity 55:00 [4]

Clearing out undergrowth from the garden island - lots of pullin and diggin and then some luggin - very sweaty but got it in before rain which was the object of the exercise.

gym class (Cardio+Strength mash) 1:02:00 [4]

Jaime class which was one of her best. Not trying for the Cross Fit level but certainly kept us busy and puffing. Arrived a little late and thought it was going to be 666 but that was just the warm up - soon to the 20-18-16 etc and back up pyramids interspersed with runs. rockman at gym too - observing as we entered and exited while he continued with his routine.
12 PM

walking 1:25:00 [2]

Plan was for home- pharmacy - dry cleaners - newsagents - pharmacy - home in about an hour. Beaut mid morning temp with just a hint of dampness in the air and warmed up after gym shenanigans. But pharmacy chucked a wobbly with script so had to add in an extra 25 mins while they took delivery of antibiotic from other branch. Still I got to find a street I didn't know existed, explored the Do Not Enter section of the race track and decided there are a couple of very desirable streets just near the estate. :-(( Bike shop closed due to 3 break and enters in 2 weeks and graffiti onslaught. Thanks a lot people.
Gardening attack in afternoon thwarted by rain - hope it fines up for CATI on Wednesday with 50 kids.
