Orienteering race 1:42:08 [2] 4.1 km (24:55 / km)
Canadian O Champs - Long Course - since they were being held in Ottawa, I had to try and make an appearance to at least one event to support the local club. The way Bash described it, the sprint would've been really fun to do as well. Anyhow, my goals were simply to complete it and have some fun - oh and as per Bash's suggestion, I was also going to hammer as hard as possible from the last control through the finishing chute given that it was pure running. The orienteering actually went pretty good, it was a fairly technical course, and it was all about holding your bearing. Bash started a few minutes before me, but I saw her on her way to getting the 2nd control after I had gotten it, but I knew I wouldn't stay ahead of her for long. Turns out we both struggled with control #12 and I saw her out of the corner of my eye. My brain wasn't functioning well for # 12 nor #13 or #14 and then it was an all out sprint to #15 and the finish. so I wanted to see how fast I could go compared to other orienteers..managed to go faster than a bunch of male elites on the finishing control ---yes! That Hurt. It was super fun and would have loved to do more events - perhaps in the future....
