Orienteering race 13:57 [3] 1.6 km (8:43 / km) shoes: Altra Lone Peak
Yellow/White Halloween O course. Julia and Mike went above and beyond to make this a fun event. Has to be the most MNOC participants on a white course in recent history.

Red course on a gorgeous day. You do't get much better orienteering weather.
Overall, a pretty clean run for me. A couple of controls where I could have done better. #1, I was hesitant to keep going up the drainage as I thought I had gone too far. I kept thinking that I should be able to see the control. I almost turned around, but hesitantly moved forward. Finally, a gentleman who was pondering his next move, left the location where he had been blocking the control. #5, I took the direct route, which wasn't wet, wasn't muddy, but the grass was so thick, and all windswept towards the runner. Slowed to a walk. My only AP gaff of the day.... I lost 3 minutes on #11 because I ran part way to #12... a little map confusion. A direct route to #11 wasn't possible due to cliffs, so had to run back nearly to 10. #13 and #14 were a bit tricky, and I definitely benefited from the other runners on the course. Divide and conquer...
A fast course. Lots of open running. My legs/lungs proved to be a hindrance. Must fix that.
Ride down to Wirth to assist with the Loppet Games and to obtain GPS tracks for the new Wirth mapping effort.
The Loppet Games is a pre-season training event/competition for XC oriented kids. They started with some trail clean up, then did 5 different events, one of which was orienteering. I hung controls, then stayed to watch the first two groups head out. White/Yellow course. Some talented athletes in the young teen groups. Hopefully we can get some of them to our events.
The Loppet Foundation could only find two flags, so I contacted Andrea, who brought out the remainder. I used my down time to scout the locations and get some GPS tracks. I rode down a lot of trails with NO BIKES postings....
Sup-urb-O Cross. My best effort on this race. It really helps to know where you are going. My fitness isn't that great, but I was passing folks at decision points because I knew the course. Some cramping about mile 5, but worked through it.

Treadmill run at work. A few intervals. .5 mile on .5 mile off, then .25 on, drop a little for .25 and then .5 off. Not very interesting or overly aerobic. I am trying not to go too hard too fast to avoid another calf issue.
