Shamrock Middle 2013
Tired after my first few weeks working, and constantly on my feet, but wanted to try this one quite hard knowing I wouldn't be able for the Longs.
Went out quickly and accurately with the intention of running fast on flats and downs, but happy to walk the ups.
Some zig-zagging across the marsh which was easy but tough running. Kept going and on the long leg I had to choose my route quickly, it was obvious though, I was always going to choose the straightest one between the two lakes. Climbed out of 6 and stayed high to 7, a route I really liked. 8 was onto compass, still trying to run fast-ish here.
9 I lacked a little concentation and the map had some vagueness so I had lost contact halfway across, but I thought I'd regained. Came into the long flatish re-entrant not totally sure, but trying to eliminate the Irish Champs errors I trusted myself and forced myself not to stop and try relocate. And there popped up the control, phew!
Into the tricky stuff, 10, 11 and 12.
Straight over the hill to 10, compass and counting big re-entrants, come into it and see it just below me, perfect. "Concentratre for 11 Colm, she's real tricky!". Climbed a little and counted big re-entrants again, there it was just above me, perrffeeccctt.
Onto 12, you're doing alright here Colm, nice one. There was where the stream shoulda been, there's the fence, shit it should be this one. Go on a little, turn back, oh no it's on the adjacent spur, not re-entrant! Dang, 30s gone. 13 walk/jog. 14 open up again, and woah, i'm too far left, damn! 1min. Work hard for the rest, just some small misses again.

Overall I was happy, it was a good run, and only just behind the big boys. Work to be done on pace in terrain though,

Running 24:24 [1] 4.46 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

Went out to do a session. But my legs were just still unbelievably heavy like yesterday, so I just left it and will hopefully do it on wednesday morning. Wanted to just do an easy 30mins after that, but I was too empty even for that and just headed home. Absolutely gone, hope it's okay before the Shamrock. Was a bit too tight for time so missing the session wasn't the biggest loss, but what's happening my poor legs.

shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Was supposed to be a long run. I was dead though. Legs really heavy, probably just after the week of work I'd say. Really struggling, lacking energy in my legs and there was an explosion of pain when I tried to run any uphill.
Just did the brockagh loop and left the others away to do Scarr, while I sunbathed. Turns out the whole thing I planned was probably like 25-30km, bit cray, but would be sweet to do sometime.
Jonny and Conor running pretty well.
