Not a good race today unfortunately. I started quickly and clean, but after the running legs from 4 - 7 I lost concentration a bit and let Johnny Casey distract me as I headed into 7. Lost time here, and then on my route the map didn't make total sense, but I shouldn't have made my mistake regardless.
Threw away roughly 3:15 between 7, 9, and 10.
I struggled today physically too, with a stitch during some points, and legs which I couldn't make turn quicker, despite a lack of lactic.
But that was an overly-negative review. Big positive today is that if things had gone a little better, I really wouldn't have been far off Nick. Also being able to grind out a result when you're having an off day is crucial, and today would at least be a step in the right direction in doing that, even if it is easy terrain to be able to do it in. I think there are more positives than negatives from today.
Delighted with the team performance from the honeybadgers. In Ammar Moussa's words "It could be any one of us that finishes where I finished, that's what makes this team special". Progress is good.
