Night Orienteering =D race (Harvester Night Relay- B2) 47:02 [3] *** 7.2 km (6:32 / km) +110m 6:04 / km
spiked:9/19c shoes: Inov-8 Rocite 295

The team came second to SO or SN or something.
I had a pretty dire race, possibly the worst since the Granby-Öran Night race on the Stockholm Tour.

1-hesitation (10s)
2-hesitation (15s)
3-good
4-I was going to run to the main path to the south-east but I think I did a 90 degree error (I didn't check the compass, just went by the path directions). I ended up running along a different path and having to relocate (1min)
5-I was hesitant early on but what really cost me was my bearing; I didn't have an AP, it wasn't an accurate bearing and I didn't stick religiously to it. This meant there was a bit of wandering about in the bracken before I found the ctrl (1min)
6-I thought I would leg-it to the junction which I did perfectly, the only problem was that I had not checked off the path so I thought I was at the junction to the north (which actually is not that similar..) I did a parallel error and got on the wrong side of some nettles (1min 40s)
7-I was annoyed so did this fairly quick (though it was still a bit sketchy)
8-No real plan, just took a rough bearing to the road, it seemed to take forever to get to it. I lost some time deciding whether to go left or right :| (15s)
9- I did a really weird 90 degree error. I immediately realised but didn't plan it out, just ran and hoped for the best. Took time to relocate (45s)
10- I don't even know what I did. I was going to take the S shaped paths just to the north but there seemed to be extra paths I popped out just to the north-west of ctrl 9 (20s) It was pretty easy to find 10 from there.
11-Not sure if I did good or got lucky
12-Easy
13-Didn't have much confidence so played it safe and stuck to the paths, I still messed up slightly (10s+slow)
14-OK I guess
15-Slow in the circle trying to get it without being seen. I failed.
16-I don't even know. I didn't even start navigating until I realised I had gone wrong (30s)
17-Sprinted it but I probably chose a bad RC
18+Finish-Run in
TOTAL=6min +

Having written it all out it looks so bad, it wasn't that bad. My head was just not screwed on today. A good/decent orienteer could have done sub 40min. Somehow I got fastest time on the leg though. Oh yeah and if you don't know, the more I write, the more I enjoyed the event.

Night Orienteering =D 49:25 intensity: (15:46 @1) + (33:39 @3) *** 4.73 km (10:27 / km) +67m 9:45 / km
spiked:14/16c shoes: Brooks CASCADIA 5

Me, my Dad and Adam all went round the unfinished (possibly never-finished) Scholes Coppice map and did some pre-Harvester night-O. We did each ctrl ourselves and waited until everyone found it before carrying on.
It was so hot and humid ~20℃

Running 54:51 [3] 10.58 km (5:11 / km) +162m 4:49 / km
shoes: Brooks CASCADIA 5

I didn't really know what to do for training today so I just ran to check out SIMON WOOD. Top quality world class terrain right there. (Simon Wood is just after 6km)

I don't think I will do this run again as there was far too much road running involved.

Running warm up/down (WD collecting controls) 8:07 [2] 1.05 km (7:44 / km) +49m 6:16 / km
shoes: Brooks CASCADIA 5

Im so unfit I didn't want to run the last hill so I walked then did a warm down on the rec.
