Orienteering race (November classic) 55:19 [4] *** 7.3 km (7:35 / km) +100m 7:06 / km
spiked:12/17c shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

I wasn't 'with the map' today if you get my meaning. I think some of that was due to having an appalling start, first it was raining horizontal so that didn't help matters, 2nd it was a similar map to the last november classic made of a nasty material that sticks to itself and therefore is hard to fold and especially unfold (! i lost about 40s trying to do this on one control because I couldn't carry on until I had), third the 1st control gave you an immediate hard route choice which I over complicated and ended up getting wrong (this may have been because I had to remove my shoe to take out a thorn which must have stayed in my sock =( =(. I lost about 3 minutes on this leg which set the trend for the rest of the course....
leg 3 I kept thinking that I had gone wrong through the whole leg which I hadn't..
leg 5 Tom Louth had already caught me up 5 minutes and he was going faster than me so I tried to keep up but he then made a mistake which I didn't but it still cost me 20s...
leg 7 I went into the wood from a path thinking I was entering somewhere else causing a parallel error, 1min 40s....
leg 14 after swimming across a stream I lost all connection with the map and planning similar to number 1 costing, 2min and 30s
leg 15 I was too early then too low then too far on three streams and when I found it it was behind a fallen tree, 2 min

Not good 11+minutes of mistakes

I need to improve - positive thinking, connection with the map, planning routes, compassing!!! but I dont get how to do the 1st 2.... ill talk it through with GG on saturday...

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

Orienteering (Oxford City Race) 21:20 [3] *** 3.4 km (6:16 / km)
spiked:13/13c shoes: Oasics, Gel-Numbus Shoes

I came 2nd to Peter Bray by 50s and beat jack by 4s which was good it was very fast and I made perhaps 3 mistakes, 2 going on the main street which was crowded on 2 legs and the 3rd on 11 where i went on an overpass when the control was underneath. Overall 25s lost at the MOST which is good =)
