Shorter version of a route as I started in town. Was driving the family around this morning so rather than come home again to go cycling, I thought bringing the bike with me was a better idea. It was for a number of reasons, mainly there was a double header in Fitzgerald Stadium which I didn't know about so that was a lucky one.

Moving well this afternoon so definitely seeing some progress. Did feel a bit tired early on, but not too much. Hot and sunny, garmin says an average temperature of 27 degrees!

Out early enough this morning, ahead of the heat but it was still warm enough on the bike although given the position of the sun, not in direct sun all the time.

Saw 2 lads on bikes ahead of me near the bottom of my road, and caught/passed them at the hotel. So their presence behind me was a small bit of motivation.

Traffic lights after the straights, before the tunnel, hole in the wall. So stopped. Waited for them to change but the 2 lads who i'd passed didn't, they gave themselves about a 25-30 seconds head start on me which I reeled back in before the climb started.

Hole in the wall reminds me, there's a new one between Torc and Dinis this morning. Wasn't there last night when I went passed, so some car must have been trying to jump in the lake in between.

11.21 for the climb, so not desperate, but had been avoiding it.

A few bikes coming against me on the way back down. Legs didn't feel too bad towards the end, some tiredness creeping in but nothing major.

Very warm evening. Got caught leaving work so out the door a bit later than i'd have liked for a sunny Friday evening.

Moving ok by the looks of things. Hot though and had put water in a bottle to bring with me but remembered at the bottom of the road that I'd forgotten it!

Very surprised with a KOM finishing the spin in my local wood, that was not planned. Also had a fast time earlier on another segment so must have been travelling which wasn't necessarily the plan although maybe subconsciously because I started late I was trying to make up time to be home around the usual time!

Scorchio

Hot, even on the bike, didn't bother me too much apart from on a few occasions. Traffic alright in town so that was helpful.

Happy with how the body was behaving, legs felt grand. Might even try a climb tomorrow, which i've been avoiding. So we'll see how that goes.

Took a while to stop sweating afterwards!

Note
(rest day)

Was back in Killarney early but took Oscar to throw some sticks in a river rather than cycle. Then cut the grass so had some strength exercise rather than aerobic.

Note
(rest day)

Trying to get back into the habit of stretching, got very lazy in the evenings recently. My calves/achilles need it though.

Knew the body was tired but this was SLOW. Very warm day too.

Calves, left one, not feeling fantastic for a lot of it too, so a lot wrong today.

Positive was that I planned on running and I did.
