Into town & GOAL Mile

Mild day but pissed rain during the mile, dry before and afterwards. Didn’t feel windy.

A small bit faster than 2019 and a small bit slower than 2018. So not desperate I suppose. Not like I’ve any training done that would help.

Legs survived, which was the main thing.

Wasn’t that early a start, Erik only joined us in bed around 6 but fell asleep until around 7.30.

Think I need a new HR strap, acting funny again today.

Waited for the rain to clear and it became a nice morning.
Felt a bit tired starting off and might have been too close to breakfast, enjoyed it more later in the spin.

Was thinking of the Strava segment on the trail around Dinis but met a NPWS jeep on it so had to slow.

The new tarmac back from Torc was good, then detoured left to avoid the water on the track further on, still had puddles to get through but smaller ones.

A group of Killarney lads on MTBs caught me on the downhill to Muckross Park, said they were going around Bluepool if I wanted to join them, my answer was “I wasn’t able”, which is the correct answer, they can ride tracks, I can’t.

Home then via Mangerton Road.

Managed to fit a run in while Mary fed the lads their lunch.

Some new tarmac to run on after Torc.

Legs feeling ok but did feel a bit tired at times.

Might try and get a spin in on the bike in the morning.

Been a while since I was on the turbo, that’s a good thing as I’ve been outside on a bike instead. Weather not nice outside so decided on this rather than face the rain. Will run tomorrow I hope, not sure when or where yet.

Mouth was numb after the dentist but don’t think I noticed it too much when on the bike. Late lunch was a good thing as numbness had definitely eased by then.

Bad start to the day, good bit of a tooth fell out so dentist tomorrow may well impact on training plans!

Erik’s first Christmas concert, best concert I’ve been to in a long time, but everyone is in the same boat at the moment.

Body feeling a bit wrecked after yesterday afternoon, started dismantling the fallen fence.

Took the trail option on Dinis for the 1st time in a long time, the winter is the time to try it with less chance of meeting anyone, and that proved correct today. Felt I was strong on the climb but tentative on the downhill gravel turns.

Tarmac still be laid around Torc so that road was closed again, so back via Muckross House. Went home via Loreto road which was hard on the last bit before the Lough Guitane road due to a cold heading. It was cool on the bike today but thought it was going to be worse.

Got the new orthotics on Friday with yesterday being the first run in them, worked out ok as not in trouble today. The weekly plan is rough/optimistic as with it being Christmas week I don't know how days will exactly work yet, more confident in the earlier part of the week.

Tuesday - Rest (lots of things on including Erik's first Christmas Concert!)
Wednesday - Run (have the day to myself so maybe something adventurous)
Thursday - Bike
Friday - Rest
Saturday - Run (GOAL Mile)
