Ross Castle

Decided to run from town this morning rather than from home into town. Rain heavy leaving home but was a light drizzle for the run. Not cold either.

Hadn’t really planned on an hour but not unexpected when I finally worked out where I was going.

Saw a lad running in front of me on the Deenagh, eventually caught him. Same fella in front as I approached Deenagh lodge, didn’t pass him a second time.

Legs felt ok running but have been neglectful in terms of stretching.

Watched some of the cross country before and after this. Some horrible deaths looked like they were had at the front of the mens and womens fields.

Note
(rest day)

Not a lot of sleep last night so tired today. Didn’t think training was a sensible idea as a result.

Got the last of the outside lights up this morning. Good display this year. Putting the whole road to shame, or are we the shame…

Trails were soft and some small branches, also had plenty of leaves on the ground. Dry for the run and just made it back to the car before it rained.

The hills I didn't enjoy so much. Legs feeling fine though.

The middle track back to Mangerton Road had been cut back since the last time I ran so the rhododendron that had been encroaching was cleared back, so made it a more pleasant section.

Almost went on the turbo but weather had improved, plus could be wet on Saturday. Decided I won't attempt a parkrun until I get the new orthotics.

Wind off the lake was strong but not as cold as running yesterday.

Turned towards Ross Castle for a change of scenery.

Thought I was going for a Strava segment around by the lake to the Deenagh River, but wasn't, wouldn't say wasted effort as no harm in some effort.

Head was sore on the way home, think the helmet was too tight.

A dog with manners at the car park, wouldn't cross the road with his owner until I crossed first, manners or he had mental issues which I think his owner may have been alluding to.

Cold morning so wasn't sure i'd venture outside but went. Was unpleasant into the wind but nice when it was at my back. Missed a shower of rain so that was a bonus.

Lots of small branches down on the paths which didn't interrupt running. Bigger tree down at the start of the path by the lake but was easy to get around the branches. Some tape across the path approaching Torc which I went under, think there was a branch hanging off a tree but wasn't over the path. Other than that didn't look too bad.

Legs felt a bit creaky for the first km but improved. Lungs I think didn't like the cold.

Note
(rest day)

Storm Barra hit today.
Was not a nice day.
Half my back fence blew down so that'll need replacing but it was in trouble before the storm so the previous storm can take some of the blame.

Lads took no notice of the storm.

Lost electricity at dinner time but came back before bed.

Been a while since last time on the turbo, shows how bad things have been training wise.

Did a bit of Storm Barra prep beforehand.
