Note
(rest day)

Bit of a sniffle overnight and this morning so skipped trying to get something done before breakfast.

Family day in Cork. Went to 'The Farm'. Erik got hit a slap on his head from a cat that was sitting on top of the cage with mice in it! I can't see Mary letting Erik have mice as pets so the cat really didn't need to defend his dinner that much.

Sniffle eased a bit by the evening.

As I turned on to the Muckross Road from Loretto Road the crowds were out to cheer and take photos of me! I’m assuming they’d anticipated that I was training this direction today. Or another reason (only a slim possibility I imagine) was that they were out to see the Cannonball Run pass through.

Saw a few cars on the way in to town and passed a lot coming back out on my way home. Lots of audis, an Aston Martin, some mercs, and a few Lamborghinis. The silver Lamborghini definitely caught my attention. One took off from Hegartys back towards Muckross, definitely beat the acceleration of my car.

Feeling tired afterwards, I blame Oscar for a few bad nights of interrupted sleep.

Nice morning, warm.

Had to try and get by a few people on the path along by the lake, that doesn't normally happen. Still tourists around.

Legs feeling ok but need to really start doing some work on them to prevent issues arising.

Tree down after the Abbey so needed to climb over it. They'd cut back the sides of the path which was good but had to deal with the tree instead.

Had thought about road bike but went MTB instead.

HR is doing alright on the mountain bike so am getting a workout, probably more so than on a road bike, think that's one reason i'm more inclined to choose it at the moment, also feels easier to get out on it despite the fact that the same gear is worn on both more or less.

Took in the climb to Torc car park this morning. Didn't really feel like I wanted to while doing it, didn't want the hurt, but got it done, need to cop on a bit. It's worth it for the fast descent on nice tar.

Nearly ran over a red squirrel then in the Muckross House car park!

Fitted it in between meetings. The one after started a bit late so had more time to play with.

Legs feeling ok. Wasn't running too fast. Trails a bit muddy in places and stuck to the smaller ones where possible. Did seek out the MTB trail on the bridle path side of the road, so that added some climb.

Met 4 people in the forest today, 1 picking mushrooms, 1 having a sandwich and the other 2 walking.

Cloudy but dry.

Note
(rest day)

As planned. Legs need to be stretched, been lazy with stretching.

Driving through town earlier there was a boot of a car open by the Outlet Centre with a woman in it. So many questions. It was raining so she could have been taking shelter.

Note

I'll make a plan this week.

Monday - Bike
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - Run
Thursday - Bike
Friday - Run
Saturday - Bike
Sunday - Run

I think the later part of the week is optimistic, expecting to be in the office more this week due to an impending deadline. Parkrun could be an option for Saturday. So we'll see what happens. Hurts less to skip training due to other reasons than being sick.

Had some route ideas like up to Torc car park but decided that would be a bit too much after pushing on the Dinis Loop, so thought i'd go home via Loreto Road. That didn't happen as I ran out of time, stopped to chat to Bernard & Margaret Creedon.

Put some effort in to Dinis and rewarded with a PR. It was helped by it being quiet. Legs felt tired on the bumps but lungs ok.

Thought it was going to rain as there was some drizzle when I left the house but it was fine. Some wind though.
