Knocknagalty Munster League

With a visiting Finn I put myself under a bit of pressure, but also needed the pressure with this area being physical.

Easy 1st control and 2nd was ok too. Around on the road to 3. Cut it probably slightly too early for 4. Going ok speed wise as well to 5. Lost a few seconds to 6 as I cut in through the green rather than before. Took a straight line then to 7. Think I came too high then and overshot but map was shot here. Definitely issues.

8 seemed to be a long way beyond the turning circle. Ended up slightly right of 9 but green was obvious. Some nice white forest from 9 to the track. Then back past the start to being lap 2.

Again 11 was further along than I expect after passing the boulder on the path. Went right to 14 and then cut down, nice forest leg. 15 to 16 was a bit funny, got dragged down a bit, but forest greener than expected.

17 I could have done a lot better. Should have gone the road but ended up on the track, cut up through the forest to the road before cutting back in.

19 may have been off position wise, particularly since i came in from the left of it. Not the smartest route to 20 either, went straight across the river rather than just following the small path. I lost 15 seconds to Jens going to 21, not sure why.

Went over on my ankle going to 23, not in a rough place, but on the track! I reckon the ankle was waiting for an excuse to go as probably was under pressure for the race with the misbehaving achilles. Lost some time to 23 and 24 from being slower.

In reverse.

Traffic was bananas in town so slow in both directions.

Chilly evening so didn’t fancy the ladies view descent and getting cold. Mostly stayed warm.

Narcos S03 E10
last episode in Colombia, I think the next moves on to Mexico. I'll get there before them as El Chapo is next up for the turbo trainer, will see what it's like anyways.

Hot on the bike so opened the window a bit. Miserable afternoon/evening so indoors only option.

Legs a bit on the sore side after yesterday.

Physio 1:00:00 [0]

Got a lend of a small ball, miniature version of my alpha ball. Told to use it every night by standing on it. Plan is to try and release the muscles in my foot, might help the achilles if foot is better, in addition to other usual work on the rest of my legs.

I'll collect my new orthotics on Friday too.

Note
(rest day)

Ended up not doing anything. Didn't want to risk waking a sleeping baby in the next room and I was tired.

Note

Will again see how this week goes. Have Physio on Wednesday so will see how bad the achilles actually is. I won't run on it until then anyways. Bike I suspect is an option for the 2nd half of the week.

Wind which I had coming home, and used it to good effect. Put some extra effort in between the 20-25k mark. Also a bit of effort on Mission Road letting off some anger/adrenaline after a car pulled out on front of me. Then a bit more on Muckross road after a bit of traffic dodging, but I had my sights set on home at that stage.

Also felt better than I did last week on the bike, more back to normal, which is good. 3rd day training in a row too, after some interrupted weeks. Maybe i'll get on the turbo tomorrow night, keep the run going. Idea is in my head now so could well happen. Looking at my last 5 days training there is 1400m of climbing over 163km. The World Champs in Austria yesterday was 5000m over 250km, that is a scary cycle. "Highway to Höll" did indeed look like hell.
