Tried hard since there was definitely competition with the East Cork crew on the scene. Almost felt nice to have that burning lung feeling when I finished, hasn't happened often enough recently.
Based on the route analysis that Josh did I took the shortest route to 1 but not sure if was the fastest as the surface was very slippy.
2 and 3 were fine. To 4 I took option A according to the route options. Not the shortest option, contours further apart than option C but not that many less of them.
6 I made a mess of, ran away from the control the way I came in, turned around then to go back up the steps, so some time lost here. Started the route to 7 alright but overshot the 1st right so some extra distance ran.
Based on the analysis I took a longer route to 8, option B. Definite time lost to 9, not my fault, or at least only partially my fault. The control was on the ground so basically ran over it, hadn't paid enough attention to the description so overshot. It might have been put back up for later starters.
Up the hill to the next control. Option B, shortest option. And took B again to number 11. Bit hesitant when I got closer to 12. To 13 I took option B, shortest according to the options.
To 14 I went with C, didn't see the gaps that are in the A and B options. Bigger road so more easy to find. Another option B for 15. Achilles starting to hurt a bit by now, with lungs definitely hurting. To the last control I took option D, the longest option, not by much I suppose. Didn't see the gap though.
Enjoyed the course. Been a while since my last Sprint race, I presume IOC last December in Dublin was my last one. Made good use of the area and as Josh has pointed out, there were a number of route choices.
