Road 56:53 [3] 12.66 km (4:30 / km) +116m 4:18 / km
shoes: Brooks Ghost 9

Longest run from Le Puy Notre Dame. Not that intentionally, just ended up that way.

Was around 34 according to the car at 6 when we got home from today's touristing so gave it an hour before going for a run.

Still very warm out but was able to run. Only trouble was any effort which was required on a couple of hills. With the heat even though the effort wasn't increased by much I could definitely feel it.

Still very quiet around here.

Note
(rest day)

Went to Chateau Brissac today and then drove back through a few pretty villages along the Loire. Needed to be home early in time to get dinner in order to get over to Saumur for a Cadre Noir Gala Peformance.

It was a good show with some impressive horse riding/skills on show. Don't think it has convinced me though that dressage at the olympics is worth watching, but have to appreciate the training.

Le Puy Notre Dame

Plan for this evening was to get that KOM on the hill..

Had a bit of a dog chase me for a bit through a vineyard, stopped and told him to go back. Then hit the climb.

The climb hurt an awful lot, not because it was steep, not because it was long, not because I was tired, but because it was hot hot hot. Definitely feeling the heat. Probably not as hydrated as I should be too, think I need to be drinking more.

Target achieved, got the KOM.

Then some more road and trails before going home.

Le Puy Notre Dame

Even warmer out this evening.

Legs feeling fine, no calf problems, so 1st day must have been some sort of blip, or maybe travel related.

Off out on the roads and trails.

Note

Heading into Angers today for the morning, walked around the chateau there and the town. Bought 2 bottles of wine, or Mary did, so had to carry them around too for an hour or so.

Then headed to find some chateaux, first one closed due to filming for tv, and 2nd closed as it was getting late. Did get to look around the gardens of it though and they'd a bit of a pet farm. The 3 pigs were out and 1 wanted to follow us home, friendly. Also had a miniature donkey, Mary is talking about getting one!!!

Le Puy Notre Dame

Plan was for a shorter run at a slower pace, test out the calf. And it felt fine for the run, so that was encouraging.

Went a different direction but finished off on the same trail as last time, it's got a few signs on it telling you about vineyards, or that's what I gathered running along, I didn't stop to read them.

Warm out.

Noticed afterwards that the hill up from the main road has a Strava KOM on it, i'll be back.

Note
(rest day)

Taking it easy today and getting started on the touristing. Did start with supermarket in nearby town, and made sure to check opening times.

First chateau was closed since it was a Monday, as the 2nd. Did find Chateau de Breze was open and was pretty cool with its underground tunnels.

Calf could be felt when walking but not that uncomfortable.
