Westmoreland Sanctuary

Time for course around 43 minutes.

Lost time on 2 and 10. Ended up too high for 2, had to relocate and drop back town. Smaller time loss to 10, was just left of it, but bigger issue here was my ankle. Decided to misbehave. More tape will be put on before tomorrow.

Lovely area, didn't see any green on the map. But lots of rocks and stoney underfoot.

Used paths a bit, they were there so used them. Walls were also useful features.

Note
(rest day)

Early start in Dublin after limited sleep. Then over a day at work was spent in an airplane!

Some map work in the afternoon, navigating around Woodbury Common. Probably could be used for a sprint race.

Looking forward to my first run tomorrow.

And the probable pitchers for tomorrow night I have no clue what their stats mean.

(rest day)

Legs feeling fine today after last night. Best do some calf stretches though.

Bus strike this evening so looks like a taxi to the hotel! Think we'll miss the last bus by 5 minutes but maybe a miracle will happen and the train will arrive in early.

Ballincollig Regional Park

Simple plan as usual - SURVIVE

did that so happy enough. Left calf felt a bit tight early on but later in the race it was good. Probably could have upped the pace later as a result but kept it steady.

Started ok, bit hesitant to 2, but 3 I made a mess of. Didn't see the open under the marsh lines so was looking around there, basically stopped too soon. Realised what i'd done and there were better features to use.

Also cut in too early for 9.

And could have stayed on the big path to 12 for longer.

There was a better line to 18 which I didn't take, wasn't sure if the grass path crossed the ditch but it did.

Wasn't sure if straight was an option to 22 but saw someone else going for it so decided on it.

Slow start minding the legs is reflected in the splits, and I definitely lost more than 30 seconds I feel to number 3. 20 seconds to fastest split lost on 9. But flat lined it for the rest of the course.

(rest day)

And another day off. Some might call it tapering.
On this occasion i'm uncertain how i'll react to a lot of travelling in the middle of the week along with changing time zones by a few hours. So taking it easy ahead of that. Will be an early start on Thursday for the flight too and then a long flight.

Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Orienteering (Ballincollig, practice for next weekend!)
Wednesday - Travelling
Thursday - Travelling & Shopping once the travelling is complete
Friday - Orienteering (Model Event) & Baseball
Saturday - Orienteering (Long WRE, US Classic Champs)
Sunday - Orienteering (Long, US Classic Champs)

I can't wait.

Note
(rest day)

Recovering today after yesterday. Morning would have been the time to do something based on how the weather went but decided that I didn't need to train.

Instead I started packing for my holidays. So some nice progress made.

Garmin doesn't seem to want to charge either. Would only need it for 1 race in the US but still annoyed. Will order a new battery when I get home and try and replace it. See if that works.
