Muckross

Went for a short lap from home. Had to decided last night whether to go before or after breakfast, felt before would be a better choice as i'd enjoy the scone more after a run than before.

Took in some forest too for a change of scenery. Wasn't too wet in the woods but tracks had water on them in places.

Legs feeling mostly ok. Went a bit harder on the hill up but then there was a tree to avoid so that killed the momentum a bit.

Pace wouldn't have been too fast in the next section of forest, bit slippy, and a fair few fallen trees (not recent) to avoid. Then came back the usual track home which had the most water on it.

Nice morning. Big change from yesterday.

Needed some bulk in the training hours so a good 12 hours between sessions today, doubling up. HR was decent enough this evening, shows some bit of effort. Lot of sweat this evening, so was either warm in the room or I was working harder. Checked temperature on the garmin and it was warmer yesterday morning.

Lots of winter sports watched this morning, Norway are seriously dominating mens XC skiing, 1, 2 & 3 in the relay in Lillehammer, then some womens biathlon, and then a bit of men's GS women's Super G after the rugby and soccer. That was a lot of sport watched today so at least I sandwiched that between some sport of my own.

Now need to do some serious rolling and also some CORE.
11 PM

Core 4:00 [3]

Bit of foam rolling and stretching before hand. The foam roller was bad but the sliotar was worse! Then some core before bed.

Got up early to get the bike out of the way. Weather pretty abismal. Every weekend seems to have a storm. So will there be another one next weekend for MOC???

Didn't feel as good on the bike this morning. Not that motivated but did better than last Saturday!
3 PM

Note

Took a spin out to Torc Waterfall with Mary this afternoon. Suspected that it would be a good idea, but a wet one. Some shelter in the trees so was alright but plenty of spray of the waterfall.

I took a few pictures which are up on facebook.

Game of Thones S05E07

Body aching in places today, upper and lower. Suffering after circuits yesterday. Feeling a bit tender. Didn't affect the bike though.

Weather wasn't too bad on the bike but definitely got worse later. Will probably be on the bike again tomorrow. Sensible.

Circuits

Missed 2 weeks, 1 that was cancelled and the other last week as I was in Dublin. So had a feeling I would suffer.

Survived alright though but was tired afterwards.

Good bit of core in between the 3 circuits this evening. Suffered. Need to do more.

Demesne

A few laps of the pitch by the playground. Calves and achilles not feeling too good after yesterday.

Knee I think was a bit tender too and could start to feel it when I decided to call it a day. Wasn't feeling too motivated to run. Think I don't like laps, well not slow ones anyway.

Physio 1:00:00 [0]
slept:5.5

Quad still short. So a lot of work still needs to be done to get it longer to allow it the range of movement it requires to operate correctly. Because it's not working properly I only get so long before it starts to hurt.

I thought i'd made some progress but physio wasn't sure.

Stretching, heat, foam rolling, sliotar rolling, all need to be done. Wherever it hurts most, do more to that!

Wonder how much progression i'll make this week, went backwards last week despite increased rest between runs, so don't want to do that again.

Monday - Running
Tuesday - Turbo Trainer
Wednesday - Running
Thursday - Circuits
Friday - Turbo Trainer
Saturday - Running
Sunday - ? (National Novices are on but got no text from the Club Secretary but considering my condition I won't be texting them)

Also have requested a physio appointment so will see if she gets back to me, and if that happens then it will impact on the plan.

Another damp day! One new tree down on the path close to the entrance, plus smaller branch debris.

So after a bad run on Friday was hoping for a bit better this evening and got that. Pretty happy with how it went. Decided to run a bit faster this evening, or at least put some more effort in, running slowly wasn't working. See what happens, worst was more pain.

The 1st lap was a similar pace to Friday morning, and would've been harder this evening in the dark, but on the big track for the 2nd and 3rd laps (shorter than the 1st) I was running 5.35 min/km.

Got physio tomorrow too so that's good.

Stopped on my own terms too, not on the knee's terms. The last even shorter lap the knee was making its presence felt but not painful.

35 in total, that's the longest run in a month!
