Note
slept:7.5 (rest day)

Was at The Coronas last night. Good show.

Ended up being lazy today. Feels like i've a very slight cold so i'm not too worried. A bit on the tired side anyways.

Decent enough RPM this morning but maybe I was hungry for my breakfast. Did this session before breakfast in order to get to Fota for the orienteering. Since I was going to walk that I wanted some proper training, of sorts, done in the day too. Was tired getting out of bed.

Ended up having to get a new tyre after yesterdays incident on the way to Fota.

Fota House and Gardens

Loop type of event with a choice on which loops you did. Bonus points for numerical order but the first loop was too far away. I wanted to stick to the gardens.

So started with 207 and got 2 loops ending with 218. Did those controls in order.

Got them done in under the 45 minute time limit with a few hesitations to try and take photos. Sometimes I managed to get a picture taken with my gloves on, chilly day, and sometimes I didn't.

Nasty shower after I finished but the hot tea was certainly welcomed.

Note

Wasn't expecting a near death experience for Christmas, didn't get it yesterday, this afternoon instead. While driving to carrigaline I rounded a bend to find a car broadside across the road, top of carrs hill. Solid white line. There was room inside and managed to squeeze through there taking evasive action, my reactions were good. Loads of potholes in there. Ended up with a punctured tyre out of it, could've been a lot worse so I'll take the puncture over a big crash any day. Continuing the Christmas theme I'd have 'decked' the other driver if I was given the opportunity.

Really wasn't feeling this session today, tired but kept things going until i'd finished watching what i'd downloaded on the phone. So had to sort of hold the phone for the session. Worked better than the laptop though.

GOAL Mile 2014

Brought my sister and her friend in to CIT for the GOAL Mile. Missed it last year due to illness but went this year even though I couldn't run. They hadn't got below 5 in the miles I saw.

Timed myself over 4 long laps and t was 19.30. So broke 20 minutes for a mile!

Avg Cadence = 94rpm

Wanted to spend longer but had my sisters laptop set up, but sound was an issue. Found a Family Guy Christmas DVD so was trying to watch that. Had trouble getting it going and then the bloody thing crashed so forced out 10 minutes to get me up to 30. Despite the cadence I wasn't really in the mood.

Got some Christmas Eve training done before loading the turbo and bike in the car to head home to Cork. Changed battery in the HR strap and that seems to have done the trick.

2 more episodes of My Name is Earl.

HR data a bit wonky so did stop at one point to adjust the strap to see if it'd make a difference, it didn't. Watched some more Ripper Street.

Felt like I should have been at work today, but I wasn't:-)

slept:7.25 (injured)

Took me a while to realise today is Monday. But today is the extent of my working week. And no work next week. Most important thing to get done today is map printing, 1/3 done so far.

Monday - Turbo Trainer
Tuesday - Turbo Trainer
Wednesday - Turbo Trainer
Thursday - Turbo Trainer
Friday - Turbo Trainer
Saturday - Turbo Trainer
Sunday - Turbo Trainer

That is one shocking looking training week, shocking might not be the right word, exercise is exercise, but mentally it's going to be a tough one to stomach. I suppose the only alternative training would be to actually cycle outdoors, which I'm not opposed to if the weather is suitable, will keep my eye on the sky. Have that option from tomorrow. Another way to reduce time spent on the turbo is to take a day off, but don't see the point in that.

Last episode of GOT Series 4. I won't say anything! But as per usual lots left open to continue into the next series. And of course some surprises.

Left quad felt a bit tight after around 45 minutes but went away again. Other than that I managed the hour alright. Was on the bike for over the hour as that's how long the episode lasted.

Will check tv schedule for the morning as that's next turbo session. Weather isn't great as lots of wind forecast, a bit like today.
