Note
slept:6.0 (rest day)

Tired start to the morning and can't say it got much better as the day went on. Was back in Killarney for lunch so didn't hang around Dublin. Lunch helped, gave me an energy boost and so did food at 6.

Not much better in the evening so an early night is needed.

Calf feeling a bit better.

Great Day.

Started off with a lie in, and after that headed towards Dublin. Met Stuart at the hotel and off to the match.

RESULT. Fantastic for my first Aviva visit to be such a great game and result for Ireland in the rugby.

After that it was into town for a quick dinner and off to the MRUP 2004 10 year reunion. Must mean i'm getting a small bit older but was good to catch up with people I hadn't seen in 10 years, oops. Excellent night. Didn't get tempted to Harcourt St but they were heading there at around 2.

Well worth the trip to Dublin.

Avg Cadence = 88rpm

Focused on putting more effort in this evening. No issues with left quad which was a positive.

Watched 2 episodes of My Name is Earl, 2 was the target as I reckoned that'd be around 40 minutes.

Now can enjoy me 2 days off after 5 weekends in a row of racing.

Thought cadence was better than this but the data doesn't lie. I know that there was a small issue with left quad at one point but a shift in position helped sort that, will get it looked at next week too. So need to try a bit harder. I suppose the lack of sweat should've told me something!

Another episode of GOT done. Watching 1 a week will get me to Christmas!

Might as well do more on the turbo tomorrow, nothing else on. Wonder what i'll watch...

3 laps of the outside plus 1 inside. Legs feeling grand. Bit chilly this evening so not sure if my lungs will enjoy that.

Track intervals 6:11 [5] 1.43 km (4:19 / km)
ahr:149 max:171 shoes: Nike Lunaracer+

8 * 600m
Plan was to do same as last week.

1. 1.51 (1.18)
2. 500m in, owwwww.

First one was a bit too fast but felt alright, nothing to indicate anything was wrong. And the first 400m of the 2nd went fine but just on the bend I felt my left calf hurt so pulled up immediately.

Stretched it for a bit but nothing too sore, tried jogging, and that wasn't comfortable.

Physio booked for Tuesday. Will ice it, heat it, and stretch loads in between. Plan was to take the weekend off so that'll now include Friday. Turbo trainer planner for tomorrow so i'll try that out and see if the calf will manage that. Should be ok.

Tralee with Robrunner

From work to Blennerville essentially with a few little detours off the straight line. Coming back was straight along the main road.

Some soreness starting off, mainly due to bruises received on Sunday. Left achilles felt a small bit sore early on too but that went away. A lot of concrete starting off with footpaths.

Out the canal from The Basin was real down memory lane stuff, used to run there a lot a few years back. Turned around at the bridge. The turn took longer than I expected as Robrunner wanted a break. I'm sure he just needed to stretch out a few tight muscles rather than being bolloxed after 5k!!! We did get home though without anymore stops. I was prepared to carry him if the minutes per km went over 5, couldn't have that.

Nice to run with company for a change. These days I mainly have company on the track doing intervals and that's a different sort of chat than you have on a normal run.

Note
slept:7.0

Legs feeling fresh enough this morning but was definitely tired last night going to bed, physical race. Sore knee and shins this morning due to bruises but nothing to worry about. Did find 3 new friends this morning too!

Cake tasted good for dessert last night, it's not very big so wasn't sure whether to have 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 or 1 of it, went for 1/2. That way I can 1/4 the other half if I want for this evening and tomorrow.

Monday - Turbo Trainer (easy recovery)
Tuesday - Running
Wednesday - Running (intervals)
Thursday - Turbo Trainer (GOT)
Friday - Running
Saturday - Rest (MRUP 2004 reunion (crap, where did that 10 years go???) & Ireland/S. Africa match)
Sunday - Rest

There are racing options for Sunday, orienteering in Wicklow or Munster Intermediate XC in Clare on the way back from Dublin. Have decided that neither is a good idea. I've now raced 5 weekends in a row after yesterday, it's time to take 1 weekend off before Kerry Seniors in 2 weeks.

Some reading this evening, probably did more on the bike than I intended but was trying to finish the book, didn't succeed though. Will need a few more minutes attention.

A bit of colour being added to my legs, bruises are starting to come up a bit. Right shin is probably the biggest one.
