Note
slept:6.5 (rest day)

Arrived in Lanzerote. Bit of messing around waiting for bus transfer, bus was in the spot it was supposed to be but a bus is no good without a driver. But the 55 seater bus was just to bring the 2 of us to our accommodation, nice!

Walked up town looking for dinner, found a nice restaurant. First canarian potatoes of the week.

Off on holiday to Lanzerote. Windy day, and a weather warning tomorrow, couldn't think of a better time to escape.

Muckross

Start was delayed due to waiting for Colm O'Halloran, he didn't show, so just me and my usual training partner.

Nice evening, bit of a breeze, but nice for running. Managed a good bit without a head torch, but that was good as my big one failed. I think the battery didn't charge properly last night. Will try it again when I get home from Lanzerote.

Legs felt a small bit sore, including the foot, but not tired. Suppose I did rest yesterday. Will be glad of another rest day tomorrow before seeing what sort of training I end up doing next week. Not going to put myself under pressure to run.

2 pizzas on the agenda for dinner, having second thoughts, but reckon i'll go through with it.

slept:7.0 (rest day)

Unplanned rest day, but lots of driving instead. Had to go to Kilkenny for a removal.

Right knee was sore at times driving. Will get an aisle seat for Saturdays flight.

Ordered a new head torch last night. Cheap one from China so no big deal if it doesn't last.

Muckross

Got running earlier than I have done recently. Did have the torch with me, but only switched it on at the top of the hill, survived 20 minutes or so running without it.

Wore my X-Talons to get them over the 800km mark, think maybe 1000km is ambitious, i'd be better off replacing them. Also didn't want to wear my runners, keep them somewhat dry/clean before I need to pack them for next week.

Disappointed with the time, thought I wasn't running that slow. Pace felt ok, not much pain, some knee and toes but overall alright. Legs didn't feel too bad either. Might have something to do with sloppy conditions in places and changing light conditions. HR was alright though, nothing too high.

Planned training tomorrow, whether it was turbo or running, is not going to happen, have to go to Kilkenny for a removal.

ahr:128 max:153 slept:7.0 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 16

Only started a small bit late!

Got a text earlier from usual training partner suggesting the track this evening as he's not around tomorrow. I'd no objection.

Usual warm-up, 3 laps of the outside plus 2 inside striding the straights. Legs felt a small bit tired.

Track intervals 18:39 [5] 5.14 km (3:38 / km)
ahr:168 max:182 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 16

3 * 1 mile (1600m)

As we finished warming up we met Chris Grayson on the track so encouraged him to join our session. It was his 1st one in a long time, marathons are more his thing. But this will benefit him.

Plan was to run 5.30 miles, considering the shape and the lack of a need to do something more extreme. So target was 82 seconds per lap. Had it worked out in my head what my 200m times should be.

First one was grand, but went off way too fast, next 3 laps were on target. On my own for the last 400 as training partner was only planning to do 3 laps.

2nd rep was on target, hit the times I was looking for at each split. Better. Think I was slightly behind, maybe by 1 second for the first half, but rescued that second on the 2nd 200!

Then the last one I got a hand for the 3rd lap, needed it, was hurting, but last lap on my own didn't feel too bad. Was a definite struggle to get home. But managed it and time was good.

Off 1 minute recovery between the miles, so not much time there.

Trails/Road warm up/down 18:41 [2] 2.93 km (6:23 / km) +12m 6:15 / km
ahr:129 max:140 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 16

Went out to the track after getting a drink inside to see if Chris wanted to warm-down, he did an extra bit of running, but he joined training parnter in doing only 1200s.

Calves felt a bit tight warming down but chatting kept me distracted.

Note
slept:7.0

Was thinking of weighing myself this morning but decided to leave it until later. Think I need to let my feet alone if I can, the toes are suffering, and red on both outsides of the ball on my foot, so rubbing off shoes. Need to look at getting new orthotics too, will price them later. Feeling tired this morning but not in pain, so maybe my feet aren't that bad. Had a closer look at my toes, on further investigation the main thing that's making them look bad is damage done by the furze bushes yesterday, must have got through the shoes. The X-Talons are now on 797km, wonder will I make 1000!!!

I plan on training the next 5 days, but just not sure what I'm doing. 3 running sessions

Monday - Turbo (easy)
Tuesday - Running
Wednesday - Running (Intervals)
Thursday - Turbo
Friday - Running
Saturday - Rest (travelling)
Sunday - Rest (recovery after travelling, and I imagine some walking will be done in Lanzerote)

Spent a bit of time yesterday afternoon researching Italy flights for March, but the prices don't look good:-(
5 PM

Turbo Trainer 40:20 [2]
ahr:115 max:127 weight:69.5kg

Avg Cadence = 83rpm

Handy recovery spin, easier gear, by 1.
Legs feeling ok pedalling.

Stard off messing on my phone, wanted to share this, maybe there could be an Irish Orienteering version of some sort? Then read a book for a few minutes, and after that it was some telly, 2nd half of The Simpsons, and 1st half of Come Dine with Me.

As a result of the messing about the rpm isn't huge.

Think running tomorrow won't be too hectic either.
