Training wasn't really an option, well maybe it was this evening, but was tired out from doing nothing.

Not really in the mood for doing something, got a pizza for dinner, and will relax for the evening.

Not quite the run i'd planned but at least there is an opportunity to train today, don't think i'll be as lucky tomorrow.

Decided to only run in shorts, didn't feel that cold, but had a few layers around my core plus a hat. The hat came in handy later on with the drizzle that occurred for a short period.

Only saw a few people around Torc, the rest of the time I was on my own.

Pace was definitely sharper than last Sunday, knew that early on. HR looked a bit high while running, but lungs weren't under pressure. Not sure about the HR strap, it feel off with around 500m to go, loose. So maybe it wasn't completely accurate. Good running time though, so pleased with that.

Long day of statistics course in Dublin, lectures all day so was tiring. Interesting enough stuff today, but distracted myself for the last lecture with the World Cup draw on the computer screen in front of me. Fernanda Lima certainly wore an eye catching dress!

Luas/Dart to Red Cow and then hit the road home.

Dublin in 3 hours not breaking the speed limit, in fact under it for most of the trek to Limerick. Got my stats course tomorrow. Had a nice run planned for Saturday morning, the DCU sprint, but have to return to Killarney after the course as something's come up. Pity but that's life.

So not sure what training I'll get done over the weekend, might depend on arrangements.

Muckross

Pace was better than the last time we did this run, started slow and worked into it. Happy with the pace, felt comfortable at all times. Legs felt alright running on the road the entire time. Did nearly do some ankle damage but just about got away with it. Was careful after that.

Had company. Wasn't feeling great at work this afternoon, felt tired so wasn't sure about running. If I hadn't agreed to having company I might have skipped it but felt better once out in the cold air running.

Chilly evening.

The campervan which had been hanging around the car-park with no one in it was gone.

At least i've a couple of days off now to look forward to, not all fun and games as driving to Dublin isn't quite taking it easy.

Not a great nights sleep, strange dream about being chased by bikers, might have something to do with Episodes of Liberty City that i've been playing on GTAIV.

Had a quick stop at the post office in Castleisland, needed a couple of stamps, one for a card to Australia to send to my sister, and the other for my latest TUE application.

3 laps of the outside with usual training parter, followed by 2 of the inside with strides on the straight bits. Took off my tracksuit pants once warmed up, decided to do a session in December wearing shorts, feeling brave, but it has been mild.

Track intervals 14:29 [5] 3.67 km (3:57 / km)
ahr:160 max:183 shoes: Nike Lunaracer+

3 * 1km with 90 second recovery

Was going to be a tough session, but 3 reps is grand mentally which suits me.

3.07
3.09
3.09

Target time was 3.07 so hit the first km spot on, but did myself no favours with a fast 1st lap. Was more conservative on the opening 400 of the 2nd km, only taking the lead after around 350m. 2 seconds slower though overall. Then on the last I lead from the start, not as fast a first lap as the 1st km, but lost time in the last 400.

The running was hard, targets had to be achieved. Felt like I upped the ante over the last 400m but this wasn't reflected in the times, but on a positive note if I hadn't then the times would be worse. Happy enough with the running, showing improvement. Training partner is also improving which can only push me more.

Think I need to pace the first lap better in future in order to have more for the last. My 600 times for the 2nd two kms were 1.54 and 1.52, 1.52 on the last km, yet I finished with the same time, so lost 2 seconds more in the last 400. Will aim to do better next time.

A proper tempo session is on the agenda soon, but not sure if it'll be next week as I'll be focusind on the X country.

Trails/Road warm up/down 15:04 [2] 2.45 km (6:09 / km) +12m 6:00 / km

3 laps of the outside. Felt a bit cooler than earlier, that is the forecast, once the rain passes over.Legs feeling ok after the session so something to be pleased about.
