Hags Glen

Run with Colm from Lislebane up the track towards Carrauntwohill, around the lake and back down again. Not the nicest of days, very damp, that annoying persistent light rain.

My one concern today was my chest, not behaving overnight and afterwards not great. Hopefully it improves overnight. It feels worse not running than it did while running.

Interesting run, some trails (wet), boggy bits, and some steeper sections, not running uphill but had to traverse them. There was one bit near the southern part of the run, must see if the GPS shows it, but jumped into the lake to get by a crag, was only shin deep. Think it was at the 3.5km point.

Handy, bumped into the organiser for Day 2 when I was visiting my dad in the Bons!

Took it easy today, legs are actually tired after yesterday, they should get used to exercising again quickly.

Inch tomorrow is cancelled, so going to be running somewhere with Colm O'Halloran instead. Quite pissed off with the reasons why Inch is cancelled.

Muckross

Start felt nice and easy, downhill all the way to Molly Darcys, body felt fine and my mind was thinking of running really fast on Sunday. Then I went onto a slippery bridle path, which wasn't too much trouble, and then the first hill, at this stage my mind was thinking how slow i'll run on Sunday!

Rain came too after 10mins running, got very heavy and I got very wet. Paths were covered in water and muddy. Also saw some mini rainbows as the sun was shining as it poured rain.

Overall the lungs struggled on the hills, in hindsight I should have picked somewhere flatter to run, but the idea was to test the body. The legs felt sore in places, knees to start off with, and then around my hip. But leg aches were smaller than they usually ae.

So taking it easy tomorrow, have to go to Cork for a quick visit, which will be tiring on top of training. Got the deadline for when Shamrock maps are being sent off so will make a visit to Crohane next week after talking to the controller this weekend.

slept:6.5 (sick)

Was very windy last night. Still ticked the 'ill' box. But there is definitely improvements to the chest. I even had to run a couple of times yesterday, in Tralee between car and the bank as it was raining, and in Killarney between the cinema and the car, listings said the 8.40 showing of Ironman3 wasn't in 3d, but it was so legged it back to the car for the glasses. Felt ok on both occasions.

Think i'll chance 20mins on the turbo trainer this evening and around 30mins running tomorrow. Then Crohane on Saturday (if the weather is good) and then race on Sunday!

Took a whilte to locate the "add training" feature it's been so long!!!

Had felt i'd take it easy but changed my mind, sick (different kind) of being inactive. So decided to do some pedalling when I got home.

Reduced resistance, didn't want to make it hard for myself. Felt ok I suppose, but don't think the lungs would have been able if they were required to take in additional oxygen. At least I did something.

More tomorrow...

slept:7.5 (sick)

Had a good uninterrupted sleep last night, the result of not being on drugs!
Chest improving, slowly. Decided that another visit to the doctor wouldn't be productive so will just see how things go. I really would like to be active by the weekend. Munster league on Sunday...

Chest still not better. Again, probably some improvement but not a massive amount. Cold almost gone but still lingering. Maybe by tomorrow I might be able to manage 2 deep breaths in a row!

It's either training or the doctor on Thursday.

Got a nice new pair of red running shorts yesterday, i'd like to try them out this week...

Note
slept:8.0 (sick)

Starting to improve, but very slowly. Cold about gone by now. Last of the drugs today so only 24 more hours of having to deal with awkward blood sugars.

Plan for the week:

Monday - Ill
Tuesday - Ill, but gotta head home after work for a removal
Wednesday - Probably rest as won't be right
Thursday - ? Hopefully something
Friday - ?
Saturday - Crohane, a few last bits to check
Sunday - Orienteering (Inch)

So this week depends on how soon this chest clears. Would like to go orienteering next weekend, fingers crossed that KerryO get their hands on the new map, would be weird running on the old map when there is a new version.
