Decided to take it easy again today. My body doesn't know what it wants to do with itself, does it want to be sick or not. Feeling ok today but no point in doing something that could exacerbate things. Will see what i'm like tomorrow, maybe bike.

So got my Turkey training camp finally written up, took a while, lots of sessions.

And since I'm not training this morning I can cook a 2kg ham for lunch:-)

Looks like turkey weight has been lost, didn't take long, but has been helped by the diet this week, definitely eating less, no biscuits in the morning and less snacking.

Wasn't feeling great yesterday evening, chest was poor so was sceptical what sort of shape i'd be in this morning. Not so bad but not so good. A few puffs on the inhaler and headed out, needed to get this done.

Mainly walked with a small bit of jogging thrown in. Time is moving time.

Forest was looking nice today, dry. I also checked out the burnt area on Mangerton for a small bit, had one control to re-tag there, but amazingly the furze bush I went to put the tag on was the same one where the previous tag i'd put out was, a bit melted though and only saw it as I was messing with the same bush.

Hadn't planned to take today off but not feeling 100%, might have a cold coming on or worse, so i'm not taking any risks and will sit today out. Hopefully i'll be better by tomorrow and I can get stuck into my weekend plans.

Legs will benefit from a day off anyway.

If I do a long run on Sunday then mountains would be a good place to go, the forest tracks were very dry last night due a lack of rain recently which surely is a positive sign that the hills will be drier.

Muckross - Usual loop

Nice evening to be out running, bit chillier than it looked though. Took my phone with me to take a picture of the burnt area next to the road up to Mangerton, also met a horse.

Body felt a bit tired starting off with a few small aches but once warmed up the legs felt a lot better. Met an unhappy spaniel at Killegy House being walked but off his leash, think he may have nipped me but not sure! The hill was a struggle but enjoyed the downhill.

Then back home wasn't too comfortable, think the sweets (haribo) before I ran aren't helping matters but have to find an alternative to sweet things that contain gluten, Cadburys might! Got a Food Book from the Coeliac Society today so must go through it for stuff I can eat. Blood sugars were also low afterwards so think that affected things near the end.

3 laps of the outside with Rob and 1 of the inside after changing shoes. Only the 2 of us this evening and we were running earlier, the kids won the battle of the track times! To be fair there were a lot more of them and I was abroad when the skirmish was fought.

4 * 1 Mile

Shit session, not happy.

Ran on Rob's shoulder or set the pace for the 1st mile, felt fine, not under too much pressure. Happy with the time, that was the target. Then on the 2nd one as the laps ticked off I felt a bit of a stitch, then felt pretty funny after finishing, the last lap was a big efford. Skipped the 3rd mile as a result, took a few minutes to feel better. HR dropped back to normal alright but head didn't feel good.

Decided to start the last one with Rob, and lead him for the first lap, then after 300m on the 2nd lap, Rob passed me out and I just gave up. Really pissed off for doing that and can't offer an explanation as to why I did it. Bad attitude. Suppose i'm not feeling too good this week with this new diet crap so maybe i'm just being a bit contrary.

Running tomorrow should be ok though.

3 laps with Rob, feeling grand.

Had an appointment with the dietician at 4.30 so reckoned that training today would be difficult, and based on the time I got back from Tralee I was proved right. Also booked some blood tests for next Monday, fasting ones, need to get a few things checked.

Back to the running thing tomorrow.

Got asked if I wanted to run a duathlon as part of a relay team on Saturday, the running part, but I don't think it's worth €30+ to run around 5k, hang around for 20-30mins, and then run another 5km. It'd be a decent team but still not worth it. Am thinking about changing my training plan for Saturday or Sunday to a long bike spin so best get the bike mount for the Edge fitted.

Wow, I only put on 1kg in Turkey, thought it'd have been more based on the amount of calories consumed over the week, I appreciate I was burning some too with the training but time spent eating wouldn't be far off orienteering time if I logged eating!!!

Long drive down from Dublin, well in reality it was quick but spent most of the drive in a zombie state of sorts, not the smartest drive ever. Glad the flight was in 30mins early. Garda checkpoint in Abbeyfeale, first time being asked to produce my driving licence at a checkpoint, had it in the car so no problem. Then heading out from Killarney towards Muckross there was a car behind me on the Muckross Road. I was driving at around 60kph, then when I accelerated just before the 100kph sign at the junction with Loreto Road the car started flashing blue lights so I pulled over. Not what I wanted to happen at almost 1am. How was I to know it was an unmarked squad car. Luckily the garda just checked my tax/insurance, and then my licence followed by a few typical garda questions, and then I was on my way home:-)

Feeling very positive after Turkey, got through the training ok and that Sprint WRE result has given me a nice indication of the shape i'm in. Was not thinking of taking Sprint selection races seriously but reconsidering that idea now! Hmmmm.

My mind wants to train but will take a few easy days to begin this week before getting back into full training on Wednesday.

Monday - Turbo Trainer
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - Running (Intervals)
Thursday - Running
Friday - Turbo Trainer
Saturday - Long Run somewhere
Sunday - Muckross, IV work
Saturday/Sunday are interchangeable depending on the weather.

Turbo Trainer 35:50 [2]
ahr:123 max:138

Avg Cadence = 87rpm

Didn't take this too easy, normal pace, and would have gone for longer except the film finished. Watched the end of Harry Brown. No harm in a short spin anyways before resting tomorrow, although might be tempted onto the turbo trainer again depending on what time I get back from Tralee at.

Legs feeling alright today but found a thorn on the bottom of my foot, near my big toe so spent some time trying to dig that out, not sure if I was successful yet.

Started with a GF dinner. Bought stuff shopping, and spent a lot of money whilst doing so! Got some cereal and bread. The biscuits I got leave a lot to be desired but will have to see what other stuff I can get my hands on, or else learn to make my own.
