Crohane

First official Shamrock planning visit. Went up via the forest road, then got onto the mountain and started running my 1st draft M21E course. Will need to reconsider the finish, like the start but not sure if it's too far from parking. First couple of controls were too easy! But the following climb and short legs were trickier. Then into the long leg which i'm happy enough with, ran one route choice today so will need to check the others too.

Then skipped a loop and started onto a longish downhill leg, happy with the leg but not the control so will change that. Also bumped into a new fence!!! That's going to need a bit of mapping and stiles to get over, so might impact on planning if I use a control or 2 to get over the fence.

Skipped another loop and headed back towards the finish. The going was pretty rough in the marshes, tussocky, so that could hurt people in the later stages of a race:-) In saying that I came across an area high up that has been burned either this year or last. So might see if I can use more of that area.

Legs got sore towards the end, right quad especially. Bit of stretching to do.

What a great day. Took plenty of photos so stopped the watch for that. They will go onto the Shamrock website in due course.

Did feck all from today. Bit of a stroll around Killarney getting the last present I needed. Quiter than last weekend, rain kept people at home.

Legs feeling better today. So hopefully tomorrows plan won't do too much damage. Chest is feeling tight/sore at times, since yesterday, not sure what's up.

Break-up Day
So no training today. Body could probably do with taking it easy rather than pushing things too much after being ill.

Printer at work is a bit slow with the maps I need for Christmas. Maybe it doesn't like taking 8 or 9 courses at the one time direct from OCAD. But it can't complain, no one else is using it!

ahr:135 max:153 slept:7.0

Avg Cadence = 90rpm

Legs do not feel good after yesterday, considering they had been well rested there is a lot of soreness in the quads, both of them, and my left calf is tight. Not liking how they are. Maybe another run will sort them out, loosen things.

Watched some JCVD, The Kickboxer, will watch the 2nd half the next time.

Resting tomorrow and then Saturday i'm not sure, would like to do something but not sure of what i'm doing. Should get out on Sunday, i'm thinking Crohane for a run.

Muckross - Friday Loop

First time running in at least 10 days, not a good statistic. And I felt the lack of running this evening. Legs had a few niggles, left calf I suspected would cause trouble but not really painful. As the run went on my right hip flexor was sore. Good bit of stretching to do later.

HR is very high for this run, avg would usually be in the 150s. A definite sign that my body isn't or hasn't been well. I also felt it in the lungs on the climbs, HR was in the 170s and I was taking it easy, and breathing because a struggle, particularly the long hill after Killegy House.

Not sure about running tomorrow now, might be better to go on the turbo trainer. Will think about it.

Turbo Trainer 46:40 [2]
ahr:128 max:145 slept:8.0

Avg Cadence = rpm

Watched a programme called "Leverage", had to find something to watch while on the bike

Chest felt ok, not under pressure though. Will try it running tomorrow. HR a bit higher than I would expect for this type of session, but it normally takes a few days or a week of training to get back to normal training numbers.
