Ran the green course from the event here on October 14th. Based on the results i'd have had a handy win, and i'd to run the course with no controls.
Probably ran further than where number 1 would actually have been, just to be certain. Got 2 fine, picked up the light green before the control and next to the control. 3 was ok too. Overshot 4, came straight up to the track leaving 3, then cut across onto the wall where 4 was, but ran past the junction hitting the track beyond it. Wouldn't have missed it if the control had been there!
5 was a nice downhill leg. Control was a re-entrant so don't know where exactly in the re-entrant the control was placed, went far enough I reckon. Then back up to the track to head towards 6. Another wall junction which I got ok. Chose a left route choice to 7, cut down by the field inside the forest, onto the track then in the small ride to go in the forest along the OOB field towards 7. Think the faster route would have been right on the track before cutting down but I wanted to go the interesting way.
8 was a long run up the track before cutting in. Went across to the 2nd stream and followed it up. Again the control was a re-entrant so not really sure where it was. But went far enough as I came out of the re-entrant below the patch of dark green. Cut across to the drain and climbed along it for 9. Then straight out onto the road to confirm I was on the correct drain.
Long run back the track before cutting down towards 10. It's description was a gully end but I think a mistake was made here, it was a open ride end. Easy to hit. Then followed the ride onto a track that brought me out by a wall to follow in towards 11, a few briars around here. 12 was straightforward, then had to get out of the briars to the track. Once on the track I found the turning circle, attacked off it. Then headed to 14 hitting the green area. My first time in this wood last year I faffed around the area of 14 a bit, so that helped here as I knew what was what. Decided against a straight line home, followed the track out of the forest onto the forest road, past the start and back to the car.
Very solitary run this morning, there was someone else in the wood but no sign of them. Think I heard some scramblers too. On the drive home, only 25mins I passed some road bowlers near Carrignavar, you don't see many of them on the roads around Kerry!!!
