Looks like i'm taking on a new job, unless there are any other volunteers, until mishortkut gets back from New Zealand.

High Loop around Upper Torc

Managed to finish the loop I didn't do on Tuesday. Body didn't feel great today, slow to warm-up after feeling tired before I started. Blood Sugars too low to begin with, topped them up with an energy gel while running but still not good enough. Didn't feel fantastic coming home.

Had the idea of possibly extending the run to take in Torc, with the decision to be made at the bridge but decided against it due to how I was feeling, correct decision.

Didn't think it was going to be this nice this morning running.

Crohane

Course I set which included controls from training weekend afternoon course plus an extra bit uphill. The first few controls I knew but after that it was all new. Started after Danny & Gearoid so had Danny caught by 7, after a bit of a miss at 5. Wasn't moving too well up to this point. Then from 10-15 it was uphill. 11-12 was a tricky leg, caught all of us. Didn't think it was going to be tricky, just the control site was, navigated the first part of the leg fine. The other lads had fun with this one too.

Always hard with no controls but thought I was doing alright. I definitely think the contours are a bit off at where 18 was, control was supposed to be a re-entrant but didn't really exist on the ground.

After 18 it was some nice downhill legs, longish. Back to the finish, felt a bit better running downhill.

Garmin distance = 7.57km

Back down to the car which was at the forest barrier. Did stop on the way down to excavate some earth/mud onto a flat rock. Kieran wanted a picture of some funny phenomenon we spotted at the training weekend. Forgot a camera so brough the phenomenon to the camera. Tough running while carrying a map and a rock!

Had physio this morning, legs are much better this week. Ankle is alright too, nothing damaged, just a sprain which is nearly mended. Legs don't hurt as much today after the session as they did last week, which is good. Still plan on going on the turbo trainer this evening.

I'm going to go training (with others) on Crohane tomorrow. Anyone tempted?

1 of Big Bang Theory and 1 of Modern Family. Comedy takes the mind of the monotonous pedalling. Did get distracted by c.hill messaging me on Facebook between episodes.

Legs feel alright this evening. But no point overdoing things, today is an easy day before 90mins or so on Crohane tomorrow.

Discovered that sensor is gone off pedal so hence no cadence. Must figure out where to get a replacement part, cheap.

Felt a small bit tired to start out with but generally effort was good throughout the spin. Another lovely evening.

Stop-Go system on the Killorglin road, 1km tailback on the killorglin side on the way out but think it had shortened on my way back in. Didn't get help up heading out but stopped the watch for red light on way home.

Dozy cow drove out in front of me by the cinema, what do you expect from an SUV driver.

On the plus side i'm no longer tired, but on the negative my ankle is in trouble. Not swollen but sore to walk on and/or move. I'll keep the weight off it by cycling tonight...

According to DHL my parcel of 12 rolls of Leukotape from Germany arrived in Ireland Monday night so should be getting delivery of that before the weekend I presume.

Rode pretty agressive throughout, plan was to see if I could catch any other cyclists, caught 1 on an old tri bike.

Started off with arm warmers but had them taken off before I even started my watch. Lovely evening, warm.

Ankle didn't cause any trouble.

Wind was there at times despite no flags moving, but it was definitely there, probably strongest coming home from Barraduff.

Muckross

Started off fine, lovely sunny evening, great to be running. Felt fine. Up the hill HR increased but same place as last week, then reduced for the last part of the hill. Started running down the hill and just before the hairpin right I went over on my ankle. OWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Not sure what caused it, small rock or uneven, nothing massive anyways. Gave it a minute and started jogging painfully, decided to turn for home as the pain didn't decrease. Kept running for a bit and checked if it was swollen around Killegy House. On the road back I stopped the watch and walked for a bit, body felt like it needed a rest as it was compensating for the ankle. Then ran the rest of the way home slowly.

It's the same ankle, left, that's been weak recently. Don't think it's swollen but very sore. Ice is on for the night. Doubt i'll be running in the next few days but i'm sure (will try) the bike will be ok.

Body feeling pretty knackered this morning, need more sleep and funnily enough the legs know they did something over the weekend. Must keep an eye on the brightness levels in the evening as might chance going out on the road with the bike on Wednesday.

Monday - turbo trainer
Tuesday - running
Wednesday - Bike
Thursday - running
Friday - turbo trainer (have physio in the morning)

Next weekend will probably involve cycling and orienteering training.

Spun the legs for a bit while reading. Took an effort to get off the couch to do this. Was very tempted to have a nap when I came in from work. Tired is a word i'm using a lot today. Not so much the legs, they are tired too, but mainly need sleep. Bed even earlier than usual tonight.
