slept:6.0 (sick) (rest day)

Dinner in Dingle hurt my tummy a lot, didn't even finish dessert. So headed back to the b&b to bed rather than watch the fireworks and celebrate New Years Eve. Tummy not good but felt under control when I got to sleep around 12. Woke up around 2 and tummy definitely was in big trouble. Finally saw everything I ate over last couple of days and felt better as a result!!! May have seen some blood come up too??? So taking it easy. Seems there was a bug going around at home, a christmas present I didn't ask for.

Avg Cadence = 82rpm

Body still not right. Sleep was interupted by waking up feeling off. Considered taking it easy and doing nothing but said feck it. No way was I running though. Speaking of running i'm pleased how my legs are feeling now, they've recovered from Christmas races I think.

Watched last episode of S1 of The Inbetweeners and Episode 1 of S2. Have a goal to aim for, got The Inbetweeners Movie on DVD for Christmas, but going to watch all the tv series first.

With Colm O'Halloran. Body felt better today but not 100%. Chest felt a bit iffy running, and was definitely struggling at the start and definitely towards the end, all the way down the hill and to the car.

Despite a shocking morning, and still shocking when I called for Colm, it dried up for the run. Took off a layer while running as it was warm. Felt better going up the hill but then Colm upped the pace down the hill which I didn't like. My body isnt' right.

Saying this run is intensity 4 due to the way my body struggled!

slept:10.0 (sick) (rest day)

Stomach was feeling bad yesterday afternoon. Was in bed for 930 but did wake up a few times. Managed to hold things together though. Had planned on running today with Colm but that's postponed for 24 hours. Weather is fairly crap anyway. Feeling a small bit better today but definitely not 100%. So taking it very easy today.

Note
slept:7.5 (rest day)

Decided against cycling due to heavy showers and felt that sitting wet on a bike for a couple of hours wouldn't be good for my health.

Did a bit more writing up on last couple of days as Garmin downloaded. One interesting statistic is that the Belgooly Race and Currabinny started at the exact same time, 12.07.05!!!

Running with Colm tomorrow and after that we'll see what happens, probably another rest day on New Years Day.

Orienteering race 35:00 [1] 2.0 km (17:30 / km)
slept:7.5 shoes: Mizuno Waverider 14

Short Course at Currabinny with my 1st cousins. Did have to put some effort in changing a couple of the SI boxes which were put out wrong/right. They were in right place for Score but codes were different on Short Course.

Currabinny Christmas Event, Score

Started with a plan to go low first so as to be warmed up before I went uphill. Got first 2 controls and saw a control 2 paths up but decided to leave that for later. Then got the next group before heading up to the summerhouse and then over the Giants Grave before heading back across and down to the bottom. Then ran along the bottom getting a few before over the depression and then back uphill. Wasn't sure what way way to teh next cluster. Headed up the track looking for the put, John Muckian was running parallel to me so used him as an AP. Then uphill to an odd tree which I missed as usual, saw a tree that looked odd but wasn't it.

Then messed up 231 by a couple of minutes. The way I came at it there was a lovely AP, wall, but only saw that when I was relocating! Then up to get the last couple of controls, the one I left for later was a bit of a dog leg, only real one on my route. Then downhill to get the last couple.

Not sure if it was the best route, shouldn't have lost the time I did but maybe in future i'll not make the same mistake. I know the map is dodgy in there but not really blaming that. Found the control fine using the wall.

Belgooly 4 mile race
PB:-) (I think)

Ran hard for 1st mile and felt ok, but started to tire a bit during mile 2. Then 3 had hills and parts of it were exposed and into the wind. Was tough, got one brief bit of respite when a lad came passed so tucked in behind him for a second. Then back to more torture on my own since i'd dropped off the small group I was with for mile 1.

Did pass a gay looking leevale lad who dropped off the lead group during mile 2.

Niall was in the same group at the start and then he dropped off before I did. Saw him behind me and spent a bit of time checking over my shoulder for him, especially later in the race. Thought the lad who passed me was going to be Niall but it wasn't.

Then last mile was downhill on my own. Tried to increased the pace, had watch set for 3.30min/km, was up by 24 seconds early on but this dropped back from 2 onwards. Dropped 2 seconds behind the pace, but think I pulled it back for last bit downhill.

Pleased with the run, wind didn't help. Calves pretty tight afterwards.

1 - 5.18
2 - 5.29
3 - 5.55
4 - 5.42
