Back down the road to the car after the race. Started off jogging in the grass in the middle of the road but then once I got to the bottom of the hill I walked for a bit. Legs didn't really feel like running anymore.

Glanageenty Fun Run
Based on the field I knew it wasn't going to be fun.Stuck to my plan at the start, tucked in behind the leaders. First bit on the road was gentle enough but then turned a corner to find a nice steep hill. Still sticking to the plan and near the top it was just me and the lad who won the race leading a spread out pack. Downhill then to the entrance to the forest, me still with him, then along the forest road. Lost the guys shoulder at the high point of the road. Maintained 2nd along the river but around half way up the side of the valley I lost a place. Starting to seriously hurt at this stage. I could see Sean and Tom Blackburn getting closer behind me so that was not helping. Down a new section of path before a descent back onto the road, wasn't expecting the road here and I could hear feet behind me, didn't look back though. Then off the road and down onto the path back along the river. I hadn't lost much ground to 2nd, max 10m and I kept this distance, probably gained slightly on the uphills. Then back into the woods before the bridge over the river and the second killer climb.
Was close to 2nd guy at this stage, first had got a bit too far ahead. Thought that the 1st lads shoes might let him down and evilly I hoped to find him face down in the mud to come! Sadly that didn't happen. On the uphill, steep, I caught 2nd quickly, and when he walked I did. I gave him a few metres at the end of the hill before the grass bit. Then on the zig zags before the stile I passed him. Started to hurt a lot more once I passed him for some reason. Got through the stile and onto the path beyond it, this bit felt longer. I got around 10-15m of a lead on 3rd and kept this onto the muddy section, was slippy enough. Then it levelled out before the descent. At this stage I just wanted the thing to be over but small bit to go, in my head I wasn't sure where the finish was, so just kept 3rd behind me. Down the hill I maintained the gap, 1st had probably 100m at this stage. Near the bottom I think the gap shortened and once out onto the forest road section it closed again. John Lenihan was here saying 5mins to the finish, which didn't make sense to me.
Back into the woods, flat now, and had the advantage of knowing the path. Slowed for the sharp right-left, and there was the finish in the distance so opened up. Not the best path in the world for sprinting but luckily I had the lead which I didn't give up.
So ended up 2nd, around 30 seconds behind first. I obviously wanted to win but i'm happy with the result. Body is in bits now though, some sore muscles (calves, quads and left hamstring). Tomorrow will be fun, especially since it's not a rest day!
