Blennerville (The Spa + The Basin)

Another lovely evening, but chilly, the mountains heading out Dingle direction were framed beautifully by the setting sun, looked class, and unlike Magic today I only came across one photographer. She was taking pictures of the sunset too, pity she didn't go to the end of Cockleshell Road to see the big bags of rubbish that had been dumped there. Irish scum, looked like a man was trying to put some in his car to clear some of it, not a nice sight to see at anytime.

Left calf was sore to start but despite stopping to stretch it twice while running I didn't get anything while stretching, so I think physio on it when I get back from my holidays. I'm also happy that my legs are tired this evening, means they've done something this week.

Calves are a bit sore this morning so i'll stretch them a bit during the day. Plan for this evening is to go on the turbo trainer for a minimum of an hour, more if I can. Then run tomorrow evening.

Going on holidays next week to Madeira for a week and leaving Sunday, but I do intend to bring some running gear, uncertain whether i'll get to use it. I imagine there'll be some walking. I do have an urge to run up some mountains there, they are around 1800m+ in height, but unlikely to be any orienteering. That might change if I can find a sprint map on the web for Funchal (where we are going to) that's close to the hotel.

If I don't get any training done it won't be so bad as it'll give the legs a rest, they like resting. Plan on going for physio when I get back which would mean no trip to the physio in January:-)

Avg Cadence = 91rpm

Kept it steady enough for the first 30 odd minutes, then cranked thigs up a bit for 10mins, just to get the HR up a bit to running type levels, so once i'd had my fun doing that, I relaxed a bit for the last 10mins.

Blennerville (The Spa + The Basin)

There were a serious amount of people out this evening. It was really nice with blue skies to start with, although a bit on the chilly side. Body is stil not right after circuits, some sore muscles, chest mainly, and left groin still aches a bit.

Ran hard enough this evening and that was reflected in the HR. Surface was good, and I particularly liked the field after coming off the sea wall on the return from the Spa, picked things up there. Got a bit of a stitch in Blennerville but that went away again. Did feel a bit tired heading into the Basin but recovered a bit between there and the car.

ahr:123 max:137 slept:8.5

Avg Cadence = 88rpm

This was a recovery from last night, legs felt alright turning and cadence was similar to what i've been doing.

Stretching later on my right calf cramped slightly when I was doing my hip abductors, so that wasn't good. Put some Biofreeze on before bed and that helped a bit, will use it again tomorrow.

Strength Training

First time doing circuits i'd say since 2004!!!

Small class which was good and 7 stations which meant I was able to remember what to do, my head isn't good at remembering things like this.

Started out with some running over those small hurdle things, 3 variations and also a ladder at the end. Then we did some stretching before the circuits. Did 2 reps of each one with a break, and then we did a a third rep. Arms are sore now from the exercises that involved lifting so tomorrow could be fun. The sit-up one really got my stomach towards the end of each rep which I expected. I also had trouble remembering how many of the various exercise i'd done.

Finished up with more stretching.

Total time includes a warm-up on an exercise bike too, all the stretching, and the time when the exercises were being demonstrated. This would also affect avg HR.
