Muckross

Ran from car-park on the right between old kenmare road and torc. Then back along the track and onto the main road before running the rowing club run uphill. Then back to the car via Upper Torc.

Had a 4min warm up from car to the start then I hit the lap button and off I went uphill. Not the nicest of runs, bit too warm and not feeling too comfortable but I was pushing it. By the time I got to the end if wa 21.01. Roads were good for running, cold had hardened them up and not muddy.

Took a breather of around 1.20 before starting my run back. The run back was pretty brutal, after a while I started to feel very funny so stopped and walked for a bit, tried running again but still felt bad, eventually was able to start running again just before Upper Torc, and when I hit the track at the bottom by the field I felt blood sugars were low. This was proved true when I checked at the car but not sure if it was the cause of the way I was feeling earlier, I think the tough uphill running may have been the cause of it.

The tough part of the run was 3.55km which took 21.01 with the climb being 286m.

Ross an Crua Lua & Crohane Lake
Recce for March event

Walked in the forest to start off with as I was checking the map to see if it was usable. The features are there but a lot of white is now green and green is still green! Did a small bit of jogging once or twice on tracks.

Then I went onto the mountain to see what that was like and it was GOOD. Area is runable and the marshes were slightly frozen which helped running. Ran around the to the top of the lake to check the area to the east of the lake since there is forest around there. A bit tougher but usable. Then a look at the watch meant that I needed to shift my ass back to the car so ran back along the edge of the forest, the forest doesn't look good so may not be able to use it, but will check it further on next visit.

I also took a lap for the distance from the gate to the car, so I can advertise how far a walk it'll be to the start!

Blennerville (fields and including basin)

Not a bad evening for running, could have done with 1 less layer, so was cosy running. Legs felt a bit better this evening and went into the basin for some extra distance.

Why do my legs still hurt!!!!!!!!

Went out this evening hoping i'd be able to run more but legs still causing trouble, and legs is plural, left quad and right knee (quad related). Think my left one will improve tomorrow since I reckon it's still sore after yesterday. Could probably have done more but decided to save the extra until tomorrow.

Note
(rest day)

Had physio this morning. I'm presuming that it helped. Right leg not so bad but lots of pain from my left quad, other muscles (hamstrings and calves) felt fine when pressed. Inside of the quad appears to be an issue now, did feel a bit tight there on Monday so that makes sense now. Anyway stretching will help solve these issues.

Blennerville (fields and not Basin)

Very cold tonight, getting colder, cheeks got cold so I pulled buff from around my neck up around my face, didn't work too bad. Used a bit of deep heat in the quads to ease things at the start. Could probably have done more this evening but decided to take things easy, got physio in the morning!

Blennerville (only to end of fields and not to Basin)

Easy run this evening, trying to see what I can get out of my quad, by the looks of things not much. Just about managed this run but will try for more tomorrow evening. Got physio session Wednesday morning so hopefully that'll clear the problem fully.

Cold this evening and the fields were hard due to the frost. Ice on the canal.
