Stephen Roche Tour de Cure. This was a 100km charity cycle. Other options were a 50km or 200km. I made the sensible choice. Weather for the 1st hour was wet, and there was a lot of surface water on the road. It dried up by the time i'd hit Tallow and Co. Waterford. Lovely day for the rest of the cycle apart from the headwind on the N25 into and out of Youghal. Things that kept me entertained on the cycle would have been the slow tractor that went past me between Lismore and Cappoquin, it took it's time to pass me and when it did I discovered there were around 12 lads tucked in behind the trailer that the tractor was pulling. I decided that looked sensible so tucked in with them. Then on the far side of Cappoquin signage became very sparse, headed off the main road thinking I was going the right direction, with one other lad who stopped for a break which left me wondering if I was going the right way. Eventually hit a bigger road where there was a sign. I had gone the right way but based on the maps of the route on the internet I hadn't gone the right way, but route on maps would have added a few more km to the 102 that I did. The organisers bunched most of the cyclists up for the last 20km which made cycling into the wind very easy. Also meant I got a break of around 15mins which actually helped. Overall I was quite pleased with how I did. More of this type of thing to come over the Summer.
