Orienteering race 1:15:22 [5] **** 11.6 km (6:30 / km)
ahr:164 max:179 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

Irish Championships, Classic. Felt a bit of pain in my Achilles before I started but didn't affect me once I got going. The first part of the course went well, no major errors and was running at a steady pace. Then came the 10 minute mistake. Made a sort of parallel error and climbed when I shouldn't have. Very bad mistake and I knew before the leg that I had to be careful as it was going to be a tricky leg. After the mistake I went back to running cleanly until the end. Was a very physical course, toughest in a long time, just trying to run in the mashes and grass made it difficult. Happy with my time considering the shape i'm in.

Orienteering race 41:00 [5] **** 5.2 km (7:53 / km) +210m 6:34 / km
ahr:180 max:188 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

Irish Championships, Middle Distance. For some reason I ended up coming 3rd!!! Pushed hard from the start and after a slight hesitation at the 1st control was going well. Caught the guy who started 4 minutes in front of me on the way to the 3rd control. Then went a straight route up over a hill to 4. Went too high for 6 and after that it was pretty clean. I didn't lose much time in the small errors I made, overall a very clean run in which I managed to keep a good pace. The plan was to push hard as I knew this discipline was my best chance of a good result over the weekend due to lack of running. I think a lot of people made mistakes which cost them time, which meant because of my cleanish run I came 3rd. I must say the 2nd last control was very cruel as it went up to the top of a hill before back down to the finish.

ahr:141 max:171

Out on the bike to Abbeydorney from Tralee, over to Kilflynn and back in the N69. Was going well until around 5-6km from home, rear tyre started to go flat so had to stop and pump it. Felt I was too close to home to change the tube. Ended up stopping around 10 times. Was very annoyed as it's the second time recently this has happened.
