Orienteering (Star) 16:25 [4] **** 1.66 km (9:53 / km) +65m 8:16 / km
ahr:151 max:171 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

Short loop around Rathaskig. Marshes are wet. No controls so a bit of time is lost confirming that i'm in the right place.

Orienteering (Course) 21:40 [4] **** 2.48 km (8:44 / km) +120m 7:02 / km
ahr:157 max:177 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

A short course, again on Rathaskig, using some control sites that were used in the previous session. No mistakes. Took a longer route to the right to the 4th control to ensure i'd a linear marsh to lead me into the control. Pushed hard as only 1 week to go before IOC which will be on open terrain. Achilles not interfering but know it's there!

Orienteering 7:15 [3] **** 0.7 km (10:21 / km) +32m 8:26 / km
ahr:146 max:165 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

Short exercise. Two controls and then back to the start for the next two controls. Found myself in the control circle easy enough but finding the actual control (none out) was a bit harder as I found the map to be a bit difficult to use, map hasn't been updated in 15 years and probably hasn't been used for an event in that long too! Map was Carrigaloughra.

Orienteering 6:56 [3] 0.7 km (9:54 / km) +52m 7:13 / km
ahr:154 max:172 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

Second loop started straight after the first one. A tough uphill to the 1st control which was where I thought it should have been if there had been a control there. Again the map was not fantastic. Map was Carrigaloughra.

Orienteering 8:41 [3] **** 0.8 km (10:51 / km) +56m 8:02 / km
ahr:147 max:167 shoes: VJ Falcons 08

The third loop, again out to get 2 controls. The first one was easy to get there but took a bit of time to confirm that I was in the right place as this was where I found the map to be least accurate. But it was good training. Map was Carrigaloughra.

Cycling long 1:41:20 [3] 45.75 km (2:13 / km) +222m 2:10 / km
ahr:141 max:163

Tralee-Farranfore-Castleisland-Tralee. Sun was shining so was out on the bike. Was able to keep a good pace with an average speed of 27.1kph. This doesn't factor in the warm up/down in Tralee town. Had a headwind all the way back from Castleisland which wasn't easy.

Trails 40:20 [3] 6.3 km (6:24 / km) +214m 5:28 / km
shoes: Mizuno Waverider 10

This session was split into 2, the first part was out and back on the Dingle Way from Tonnevane with the second part around the Tonnevane Loop. It was a wet evening so path was a bit slippy, especially in runners. The session was spit into 2 as I was breaking in my orthotics.

Cycling 53:19 [4] 23.34 km (2:17 / km) +224m 2:11 / km
ahr:143 max:170

Tried to push hard on the bike this evening and I did. Out to Abbeydorney from the Ardfert road and then back. The return trip from Abbeydorney was hard as it was uphill and into the wind. Even had rain towards the end which wasn't pleasant

Cycling 35:00 [2] 13.0 km (2:42 / km) +34m 2:39 / km
ahr:132 max:157

This wasn't a planned training session, more training by necessity. It was a very slow cycle out to Blennerville, to a physio session. Car was in the garage being fixed so ended up with no car for the evening. Managed to luckily get a lift home from work, have enough time to cook & eat my dinner, and then cycle up for a physio appointment at 7. Worked out well in the end. Would not have been good if it rained on the way up.

Cycling 53:08 [3] 23.34 km (2:17 / km) +132m 2:13 / km
ahr:135 max:158

Headed out on the bike to try and ease the pain I was feeling in my legs after the weekend's running. It worked to some extent but legs still shattered afterwards.
