JHI relay.
First leg which I don't really like but was hoping for a good race.
Bad route to 2 but didn't lose much time. Lost about 30secs on 7 getting mixed up n the buildings instead of skirting around on the tracks. Forest section was nice and fast but lost 15secs running to the wrong knoll at 13. Lost another 20secs by trying to get into the open through some green but an un-mapped barbed wire fence was blocking the way. Went too high after the spectator to 17 but the map was off in this part because the re-entrant was right beside the road and much lower than it should have been 30secs. Really pushed it to the finish trying to get Paul into a good position.

Finished in 5th on my leg about 2mins down and the team finished 5th overall. Good performance but hope for a podium next year!

JHI Individual.
Wanted to do a good race andpossibly a podium finish but it didn't quite work out like that.
Started well spiking 1 with only a little hesitation. Should have realised that i would need the compass more in the vague contours but didn't so ended up too far right on 2 dropping 30secs. 3 didn't see the masive sand area so was running in the gully beside the fence for a while. Dropped 2mins on 4. Was going quite slow on the slippy track and then couldn't follow the small tracks on the ground so went cross-country. The contours didn't match up in my head when coming into the area so relocated off the forest end. Compass led me too far right which made it certain that it was strangely mapped around there. 5 too far right 30secs. 6 didn't take the optimal route of going over the crags to the right and made a hash of getting down. Glad I looked up because I would have run up the massive hill if I hadn't. 7 spike. No compass to 8 and drifted far too left 2mins. The rest was quite good with small mistakes and hesitations but happy enough.

Finished 6th which is disappointing but I wasn't tired at the end so wasn't pushing very hard I suppose.

Shortening the evening runs because of the weekend. Felt really good before the climb to Deer Park but then my hamstrings and calfs tightened up and were quite painful. This only stayed for a small bit and felt much better on the cool down home.
