4-man time trial relay,Cillin,Laurence,Me and Colm.
Cillin set off at a very quick pace but kept it up and pooping over the hiil to see if he was near he was on top of me and i raced back to warn Laurence.5:45 for Cillin, good start.
Waiting at the start i felt nervous until I saw Laurence and the adrenalin kicked in.I shouted encouragement and the tap was clean.6:10 second leg, steady.
I was off.I ran steady for the first part through to the road, opened up and hit the first hill. The track made in the ground was muddy and slippy from the first two legs and i had a couple of tumbles which forced me to go harder. The downhill to the road passed in a blur of bouncing off trees.Hit the road and started to leg it,couple of guys looked on in astonishment as i flew by.Down the spur and hit the second point.Legs got their reward on the next downhill and i rushed through the muddy pits and across the river. The second hill was quite easy until the top where my quads started to ache but forced myself to go on,the toughest challenge was still to come. The mini-hill has seen the fall of many runners to fatigue and hoped this wouldnt happen to me.Small, quick steps got me up this mini-mount and a let out a sigh of relief.Pushed for the last part on a mini track around to not fall victim to long grass.I could see Colm at the finish and didnt want to let the team down.Came over the verge to hear the shouts of encouragement from the team.Tapped with Colm and sat down on the edge of the road.My work was done although felt as if i could have pushed harder.
Colm came back in 5:40 to give a total of 23:30 behind Seamus and the CNOC relay.
Bad conditions on the day is making me hungry for a day which is dry and in which we can go to the top of the laederboard of 4-laps.
