Fuensanta - Los Foces del río Pendón - Las Praeres - Sierra de Peñamayor - Fuensanta
I had this in my mind during the week but had almost decided against it on Friday as I felt tired and not that well after some wine the night before. But got a good sleep Friday and felt up for it in the morning.
A nice route linking up two areas I've been hiking around. Lots of people at the beginning in Los Foces del río Pendón, popular walking trail, not ideal as it was single track. Then quieter up higher with just the odd walker or rural house.
Felt pretty good throughout, a little tired from 2.5 hours and did get some lower back pain in the final downhill. Not too bad but something I will need to address for runs like this or longer. I'll focus on lumbar mobility for the next few weeks but I think a lot of it is just strengthening the core. Quads and hips a good sore towards the end too. Legs sluggish on the climbs after ~1000m of climb. I think the final downhill was a summit finish in La Vuelta 2018 (stage 14). I didn't notice running down it but I looked behind me a few times as I went and the road is bloody steep, couldn't imagine cycling up it.
This run was probably pushing it a bit at the moment but I've been feeling good and wanted to see how the body would react. Pretty pleased that everything felt good other than the back pain.
