Ballybraid IMRA race.
I was looking forward to this and felt good this morning after not feeling great yesterday. I set off steady and was careful not to overcook it as its a long unforgiving climb up to Mullacor. It went well and I was third onto the open mountain around 15 seconds down on Brian Flanelly and Adrian Hennessy. Fortune and Jason Kehoe were close behind.
I walked most of the open mountain but did put in an effort to jog parts. But still, it seemed Bernard Fortune walked the whole thing and got a bit of a gap on me. Paul Mahon also caught around 50m from behind by the summit. I guess that's a bit of a strength issue I should look into.
Unfortunately just after touching the cairn on Mullacor I stubbed my toe badly on a rock and my race was over. I tried to keep going for a few minutes but the pain did not subside. Happy with how it was going but disappointed it ended that way!
