Orienteering 1:12:58 [5] 11.4 km (6:24 / km) +180m 5:56 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons 212

I was looking forward to this but it has been a while since I have run. I noticed this out on the course. It was an unenergetic performance but I was very happy technically.

1. (2:32, +0:07) (2:32, +0:07)
Nice and easy first leg.

2. (4:12, +0:07) (6:44, -0:07)
Changed my plan for the leg at control 1. Had planned to go back down to the path but chanced looking for a gap in the green but didn't find one.

3. (10:32, +0:51) (17:16, +0:44)
Happy with my route. Aonghus running faster.

4. (2:16, -0:15) (19:32, -1:56)
Everybody made a mistake on this leg. I spiked it and remember thinking to myself that if people were to make one mistake on the whole course it would be this control.

5. (1:34, +0:20) (21:06, -1:52)
Lost time here, struggling with my direction.

6. (5:24, +0:54) (26:30, -1:28)
Easy leg, not the nicest open but not the worst. I could see Angus ahead of me.

7. (3:01, +0:05) (29:31, -2:31)
I went right, it looked a lot nicer even if the distance was similar. Almost caught Angus here but my SI string ripped the SI box out and I had to fix it up.

8. (5:52, +0:39) (35:23, -2:09)
Easy leg. Watching Angus in the field.

9. (2:51, +0:25) (38:14, -1:47)
Halfway on this leg I was reading as if I was going to 10. Hit the buildings and took a moment before I realised what I had done. Not too bad, small time loss.

10. (3:03, +0:09) (41:17, -1:38)
Perfect. Tired.

11. (6:43, +0:23) (48:00, -1:23)
My dad informed me that Angus was a minute ahead of me on the route. I went left. Not too much lost on 9. Cool. Angus hit the track as I started to climb up. I was slow up to the control.

12. (6:53, +0:41) (54:53, -1:13)
I went through the car park, just didn't fancy the climb across the river with my shoes in the mud. Lost time around the control, there were kind of three levels instead of two as the map made clear. Not sure.

13. (3:47, +0:26) (58:40, -0:52)
Easy, couldn't run the whole way up the hill.

14. (3:36, +0:10) (62:16, -0:44)
Better running now. Easy control.

15. (1:33, +0:07) (63:49, -0:38)
Enjoyed this last section of the course but I was very tired for all the ducking and weaving in that green.

16. (2:22, +0:31) (66:11, -0:17)
Lost time here. I was right and generally pretty unsure along the way.

17. (1:18, +0:10) (67:29, -0:07)
Spiked.

18. (1:56, +0:16) (69:25, +0:09)
Spiked but remember walking close to the control. Aonghus passes me here.

19. (1:11, +0:06) (70:36, +0:13)
Tired spike.

20. (1:44, +0:11) (72:20, +0:19)
Tired spike.

21. (0:38, -0:01) (72:58, +0:16)
Summoned something for the finish but I think the best split is more a case of having picked the best line through the forest.
