Note
I haven't been that focused this year on anything really. But things are looking good anyway. College is almost finished and the fitness isn't shabby.
Not going to JWOC, I decided not to because I don't just want to go and have poor slow results. I don't think I would have been selected in any case.
So of course I need to work on everything, especially endurance. Any orienteering over 8-9km this year I have really struggled in the closing stages. Czech long and IOC long coming to mind, where I lost 10 minutes on running alone in the final 1.2km or so of IOC. I had thought about focusing on sprint or middle, but there's no fun in that.
I really enjoyed the IOC weekend, especially the competing side. My race was not good in the relay but it was still nice to claw runners in to finish 3rd, exciting. I am looking forward to the Shamrock. I should be going and running M21, so there's a more imminent reason for the focus on endurance. I also have a Shamrock Session to give there, for anyone interested.
I'm going to spend most of the summer in Spain, which will be exciting. But I plan to run more than ever there. Running somewhere new is always motivating and I will have a lot of that. I would like to be very competitive at events I aim for in the near future, but I'm only going to engage in trainings that are actually enjoyable for me. So I think a day by day training plan is best for that.
I'm going to start with AP again, and write more, rather than just log the trainings! It's a really great tool.
