7 PM

Warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Asics

Running intervals 10:40 [5] 2.94 km (3:38 / km)
shoes: Asics

Short but tough interval session at Lindie's. First one in ages. Achilles' warmed up well and no bother during intervals, except for stiff back so had to stop and stretch for 20seconds halfway through

Running intervals 7:00 [3] 0.6 km (11:40 / km)
shoes: Asics

The recovery's of one side of the pitch between each interval. Jogged most of them

Warm up/down 7:30 [2]
shoes: Asics

Stretching and jog home. Didn't do too much stretching but feel good after. Achilles' a little sore. Will keep stretching...

Pretty tired

Orienteering 1:07:13 [4] *** 10.72 km (6:16 / km) +150m 5:52 / km
shoes: Asics

So today wasn't great but reading map more often and it's getting better.

So...
1) Spike
2) 5 seconds just confirming where the control was in the re-entrant
3) Got into circle fine but thought it was on embankment. 10 seconds
4) Thorn in foot, seriously sore. Stopped for about a minute to take it out but Spike anyway
5) Spike
6) Really bad control. In middle of green. Just lucky to choose the right way, but i didnt. Got in at third attempt
7) Was ok. Hesitant.
8) Came way too south (off map actually)
9) Long easy leg. Only stopped about 50 metres from the control!!
10) Should have gone round, but headed straight in. Got lost and when I found it it all made sense. up to 2 minutes
11) No planning ahead for this
12) No plan. 40 seconds
13 + 14) Spike
15) Spike
16) Spike
17) Too high. 1 minute
18) Really helpful control description. NOT! It was hidden but when i finally decided to read the detailed map, got it no bother
19 + 20 + 21 + 22) Spike
23) Bad route and hesitant. 30 seconds
24) Spike
25) Spike
26) Didn't read what I was looking for. Hit the stone and then had to backtrack. 30 seconds
27) Overshot, 25 seconds
28) 5 second hesitation
And the rest was alright.

Fitter but still unfit

Roasting...

Orienteering 43:05 [5] ** 6.08 km (7:05 / km) +100m 6:33 / km
slept:10.0 shoes: Asics

Ah well... Probrably the worst event I've ever been to.

The first few controls were ok but I could feel myself getting tired and back was stiff.
Then came the forest. Impassable, NOT-WHITE, really sore forest.
Well it went badly because of old map and controls over 20 metres off the centre of circle!

What a load of....

Dead at end, really struggled but have a few weeks!

Warm up with stretching

Orienteering 57:00 [4] 5.1 km (11:11 / km) +200m 9:21 / km
slept:10.0 shoes: VJ Orienteering Shoes

Just did some controls on Djouce with Jonathan.
Start was at fence corner after few laps of car park etc.

He did first one and then we kept swapping over.
We were taking it steady but with the hills and heat it ended up being quite the killer. Legs only got tired at very end but aerobic fitness wasn't the best on the ascents.

Warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Asics

Did a warm-up but sort of lost the use when i was standing still in the start box for over 8 minutes
7 PM

Orienteering 34:30 [4] *** 5.5 km (6:16 / km)
shoes: Asics

Not sure of my time or exact distance until results up.

Didn't really stop during legs, only for small bits at the control. But flow isn't great but much better and the controls I spiked, I really spiked.

1) 1minute because I took wrong path
8) 45 seconds, no bearing
10) up to 3 minutes, no bearing so unsure where I came out on track. Took ages to relocate aswell.

Was running so much better than Sunday. But the swelling has gone up in my knee!!!

Warm up/down 5:00 [1]

Warm-up

Orienteering 31:53 [4] ** 4.5 km (7:05 / km) +50m 6:43 / km
spiked:21/24c shoes: Nikes

Went out slow but because of my fitness I was wrecked at the end. Lost about 90 seconds overall, most of that being that the circles were on wrong features on the map. Ran most of it
Hope I didn't overdo it...
2 PM

Warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.2 km (9:05 / km) +40m 8:20 / km
shoes: Nikes

Relocation around the forest with Jonathan and Colm. Was class but soooo tired

Saturday May 15, 2010 #

Stretching 10:00 [2]
shoes: Nikes

Lying in the back garden... all over weed and feed, yikes!
3 PM

Running 8:00 [1]
shoes: Nikes

Slow around the garden. A few pains but in both knees, so that must be from out of training. Managed well and felt so good for even this run!

Went for 70 minute walk and a couple of tiny jogs in Belfield with Jonathan

Leinster Champs 2010. Felt bummed not to be running this year but it was a really exciting event as I waited to see who was going to be going to EYOC too. Glad that I walked up to the start with CillĂn and Mark and then it wasn't such a bad wait before I met Jack and Harry at the finish and we waited for others. Colm came in and we went up to last control to watch the action ensue. It was epic!

Knee good on way to and from start and did a 10 second run! Felt dodgy though :P

Saturday May 8, 2010 #

Note
slept:4.0 (injured)

At friends Friday night, but managed to grab a few hours sleep and my knee stood up to hours on the trampoline and bouncy castle at a confirmation.
First successful bit of work with the knee

Wednesday May 5, 2010 #

Note
(injured)

Now is the moment where I start getting ultra-frustrated. Damn. Can't train. Feel so unfit and getting worse every day.
Wouldn't mind that much but I was unfit when I got injured so I ain't gonna be too pretty in three weeks when i'm back (doctors orders), and I have to come back slow, Oh it's too depressing...

(injured)

Did the Light Green in JFK Arboretum today. Love the area but should really be a sprint map. Would be classy then.

4.1km in around 60 mins. Was perfect time to practise technique and I made plans, planned ahead and never really stopped.

Knee got a little sore after ca.3 km. It doesn't like the impact that much. But i need to keep walking on it and ice etc. Feeling better every day!

Sunday May 2, 2010 #

Note
(injured)

So the knee is healing faster than expected but i have no idea how long the ligaments will take. The knee is sore to lean on and I ran a few steps and the impact was bad. So still some time to go

I know now to come back slowly so I wont be rushing back and damaging myself for EYOC!

Off the crutches!
