Event: Goal Mile

Warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Nikes

Down to Belfield for Goal Mile with Dad and Jonathan. Toes got frozen

Running 6:06 [5] 1.6 km (3:49 / km)
shoes: Nikes

This went abit balls up! Started in the middle of a huge crowd beside Jonathan, Conor and Ruairi. Tried to get past everyone but was slow getting around. So ran most of the first lap in lane 3 going around everyone.
Because of this hustle, i did the first lap in 70 seconds!
Conor and Ruari caught me half way through lap 2. I had pretty much died from the sprint start. Came into final lap at 4:34 so thought i had a good chance to beat 6mins. But I was more tired than i thought and came to last straight in 5:50 to finish in 6:06. First real track race against others and I can see how experience will help in future! Real fun though.

Joss Lynam finished a few minutes after me and he was on the microphone and there was cheering. It was a good sight

Down to Lindie's with some stretching there

Sore without a warmup yesterday

Running 10:24 [5] 2.4 km (4:20 / km)

Not taking it overly quick as usual again today. Quicker pace getting easier but need to push more here to discover new speeds.

2 x 400m
2 x 200m

Jog a side between each but time does not include these

Also decided i'd like to go to WOC this summer

Warm up/down 4:49 [1]

Maybe not enough

Sunday Dec 20, 2009 #

Running 45:00 [4] 8.4 km (5:21 / km)
slept:10.5 shoes: Asics

Left the Asics loose today. Not sore at all. Very comfortable, intensity three all the way until i pretended i was coming in to the finish of a big race. So i ran faster for the last five minutes. Really cold but fun.

Listened to Queen's Greatest Hits. Really good stuff. But my earphones wont stay in my ears. Anyone know good earphones for running or do you just wear a headband?

Warm up/down 10:00 [2]
slept:10.0 shoes: VJ Orienteering Shoes

Feeling quite good

Orienteering 1:14:00 [5] *** 9.45 km (7:50 / km) +380m 6:31 / km
spiked:7/9c shoes: VJ Orienteering Shoes

Course lenght-6.9km
Enjoyable, different style of planning from Focus
Quite a good run.
Lost time in circle on three-20 seconds-no too bad, considering it was a 20 minute leg :)
And 30 seconds on 7 as i hit the lower crags, even though i had been there before...
Really noticed how bad i was on the hills and basically through terrain. Need less grass running and more strenght work.

Last three orienteering's have been the best i've felt since the EYOC disaster. Good times ;)

Route

Note

Hilariously shocking mistake by Colm :P

Note

Watch every one of these videos. They will be the best you have ever seen. I've watched all 95 :)

Orienteering 1:21:45 [5] **** 12.0 km (6:49 / km) +120m 6:29 / km
spiked:16/22c shoes: VJ Orienteering Shoes

Course lenght: 9.6km
May have run longer
No big mistakes in 1-6
7-Got to thicket, couldnt find way in so assumed wasnt mine. Carried on utterly confused, came back and ther it was in what i think was the same thicket but deep in. My error, 2 mins
8-Higher path not marked which caused mayhem in my mind. Ended up getting it alright but was slow when unsure at beginning, 1 min
11-Was reading contours wrong but it was buried anyway, 1 min
16-Too short
17-Headed off to 7, the control before the butterfly and then realised my error when i saw eoin emerging. warned him and set off. 3-4 mins
18- Nice bearing
19-Knackered!!!! Got to area ok but they got the description wrong so i was looking for the wrong thing. Went down every bit in the bloody place before i got there. Was prob ok but i couldnt tell what i was lookin for in the circle and when i found it, realised description was wrong. 4 mins
Spiked the rest but was exhausted and starving. Need to do more long runs

Could have broken 70 without my big mistakes and only minor ones. Happy enough with this because when i was focused i was good :)
